Canon hv 30. useless without firewire port?

i've heard that with a canon hv 30, you can get great video but everyone STRONGLY suggests a firewire to upload. well my computer doesn't have a firewire port, so would USB be just slow or too difficult to even work with?

you can buy one for your computer, they're not that expensive.

i would go into a computer shop make sure you get the right one.

the hv30 does not transfer video over usb, firewire is a must. the usb port is only used for transfering photos off the memory card

yes they have one, but its firewire 800, i believe that is 600, it looks more like a rectangle

i have a sony viao fw

HDMI capture will work as well, but you'd need a HDMI capture card of course.

Also, when capturing directly to an external hard drive, you should use a firewire hard drive.
