Canon EOS 1D-C

I was talking photo, but I know a lot of big time directors still shoot film, I know war horse, the artist, and a few other Oscar nominees this year were shit on film.

well yeah, hollywood the majority is film, but red is going to take over soon, especially with 4k theaters. People will still use film for years, but red's is going to starting being used alot more. Big directors like Peter Jackson, James Cameron, etc are using Reds now.

Exactly. I know youtube and vimeo are both pushing for 4k streaming and we maybe will see tv shows be broadcasted in 4k as well.

Bottom line, 1D-C is still pointless in my mind. I just really hope that canon doesn't fuck up with the 60DII or 7DII... 1080p60fps maybe?

... we won't see 4K TVs broadcasting for awhile, like 10 years probably. Alot of TV stations still do alot of SD stuff...4K online seems more possible but its hard enough to stream 1080p right now, internet technology needs to go up (servers, websites, connection speeds, etc) i doubt 4k wont be like 1080p for a long time.

I think this is a massive overstatement. Although I agree, we have a ways to go. 1080p still isn't standardized online yet (720p is), and HDTV is still stuck in 720i. Past that, and we have the big guys scratching their heads trying to decide whether to continue onward with their failed attempt to popularize 3DTV, or jump ship to a new pointless trend, 4K.

if google can get their fiber networks up nationwide in the next 5 years. we will be seeing 1GBS connection speeds, and intel is saying we are going to have retina resolution displays widely on the market in 2013. So realistically we could have some 4k over the web stuff in half a decade.

Cable/satellite is still 720p, so 1080p has to come before that. I could see 4k Blu ray but you'd need 4k tv's first.

Most tv stuff is 1080i which is still no where near true 1080p but its a similar resolution, just under 2k. 4K is like the new generation of resolution.

720p = 1080i??? Right. But yah, it's just going to take a while and a whole lot of marketing to get there.

No I think you mean 1080i/60fps when deinterlaced is the same as 1080/30p. Or however the fuck you say it.
