This is sweet i definitely want to see how the reviews turn out on this baby its not even that expensive! 200 bucks!
 
cant see how that is comfortable shooting with tho, where are you supposed to have your hand? under the camera?
 
I dont really see the point in buying it. Its not "that" fast and only 10mm away from a 50. Just step back a few more feet with a 50
 
thats not the point, its a pancake lens, so it will be marketed and sold for its very small size
 
well, some people come up from p&s's for the better quality of a dslr, but some still think the size is to big, so this would be perfect for them

or maybe this is a prelude to canon releasing a mirror-less system to directly compete with the nikon 1/j1 which can mount any of nikon's dslr glass. Wouldn't you love to see a digital mirror-less version of the ae-1?

Yeah, all the canon rumour's are pointing towards a compact, mirror-less camera that can mount EOS glass. Hopefully it will still have a aps-c censor and not a m4/3's.
 
Same. I travel a lot and taking my DLSR and lenses with is a huge pain, I've been thinking about getting a M4/3's camera or Fuji x10 or x100 for a while now.
 
id pick it up in a heart beat if it was 1.8. it would be awesome for those times when you really want to have a camera but dont want to carry around equipment. i feel like you could almost fit this attached to crop body into cargo shorts pockets

to me everything is pointing towards a compact camera format being released by canon.

not only that but this one would be a game changer. Im predicting an ef mount directly with no need of adaptors.

I sell cameras for a living so this would be a huge thing for me. I cant imagine how many canon shooters would buy a compact that they can fit the lenses they already have on them.

Im hoping its going to have an APS-C format sensor but im not sure if its physically possible. I think it might just give it a crazy crop factor.

Anyways if they can do this with an EF mount, they would completely destroy the micro 4/3 format and there wouldnt even be a reason to get a sony nex system even though I think they are the best right now.
 
direct ef mount built in would make for a big mirrorless camera....

If released it will have a shallower mount, but the ability to have an EF adapter for it. It would be absolutely pointless to have the flange distance of an EF mount but without the mirror
 
I think the pancake lens is a solid indicator that they are aiming for a compact format. theres no need for a pancake on a dslr.

There has to be a way to have a small ef mount camera. if it means changing the sensor or adapting it, this would be a huge game changer.
 
no, its the optical forumla of the lenses. ment to project the focused image on a sensor 44mm away.
 
-street photographers always want small gear so people aren't intimidated by a big dslr and lens.

-portability. so if you're walking around your setup won't be too heavy for comfort. fit in small bag (maybe not with dslr - foreshadowing?)
