Canon 1Dx mk2.....?

The only thing it has that no one else has is 4k60, but is that worth the price tag for the product? I think id rather have an fs5 and not worry about 4k60...

looks nice for photos, shitty for video.

Nobody wants to shoot 4k 60 that's probably 4:2:0 or maybe 4:2:2. only video use I see is doc style and journalism but they files maybe too large for most of the journalist to store and achieve in the field, since it shoots 4k 60p in motion JPEG at 800Mbps

could be great for still photos

The people buying the 1dx mk2 aren't looking for all around, they could probably care less about the cinema 4k@60p.

If you're looking solely at the video side for comparison with the D5 you're doing it wrong (also for the price of the 1dx mk 2 you could get a red raven body, although it'd cost quite a bit more to get it up and running the video would likely blow the 1dx m2 out of the water)

so true. Canon really needs to figure out who they're marketing to. A 1D is a PHOTO camera, and a great photo camera. They need to realize that there is still a strong demand for Canon DSLRs for filmmakers (won't be for long, I for one will be jumping ship soon if the 5D mkIV doesn't have 4k. Right now the best bet for Canon filmmakers is still the C100 mk i, mk ii if you really want 60p. Resolution is far better than any of the Canon DSLRs and you can pick up a mk i body for less than 2k if you look around

Even for photo, it's a lot of "minor improvement" upgrades.

slightly more resolution

slightly faster AF performance

slighty better low light

slightly better fps

better speed on card writing

What canon needed to do was make a camera that has the dynamic range to compete with the sony and nikon bodies, and it looks like this is the same sensor that the 6d uses, which doesn't come close. Obviously needs to be tested, but if that's the case, it's a bummer.

The video specs are sweet, and I'm definitely considering upgrading my 1dx to the 1dxII if the DR is better.
