Cannabis Conundrum

So i am facing the issue of being kicked out of my parents house if i continue my lifestyle. anyone have situations like this when they were growing up? Should i quit completely, or just tone it down and be stealthy?

Sober up for a while. seriously if you think about it getting high isnt really worth getting kicked out.

stop being a bitch, weed is for pussies.

your parents will never suspect stims

or you can get hammered more often then not, apparently weed kills a shit ton of braincells

why are you even questioning this? do you really need weed so badly that you actually are considering to risk getting kicked out of your parents house just so you can continue to smoke?

A few years ago my plan was to just tone down weed b/c my parents threatened to send me to rehab, I ended up just quitting smoking entirely. For me it's a much better lifestyle.

same boat as you, OP. i just do it once a day now at night, unless im driving somehwere, in which case ill go for a joint ride.

do as many people as it seems go to rehab in the states? i mean seriously, weed rehab? you know how you quit weed? stop smoking it. that's it.

Lol. You do realize that you can be dependent on weed, and if you smoke enough you can actually physically alter parts of your brain, just like in other chemical addictions, right? There are withdrawal symptoms as well. It's not always as simple as "just stop smoking it".

gimme some studies or evidence proving this and i'll legit admit i'm partly wrong in this, that people can become chemically dependant on weed, but all i have to go on right now is my first hand experience going from all day everyday for near a year to nothing in the span of a day and feeling absolutely no ill effects.

why are they so against it? have you tried having a discussion about it with them without either of you getting heated at each other? lay down some facts about how it's safer than alcohol and what not. there's plenty of resources on the internet for you.

It's different for everyone, i have heard of people having to stop after consistent every day tokage and they get next to nothing in the way of side effects. On the other hand i have heard of people who, stop sleeping, don't feel well, are tired, for about 2 weeks. Then after that you are good to go.

Weed is easy to break the habit if you stick with it for more than 2 weeks.

being addicted to weed is the same as a caffeine addiction. your body acclimates to the chemical imbalance in your brain. it's how all addictions work. in caffeines case, it blocks the receptors that your body uses to tell that it's tired, thus you stay up longer. after several months of moderate daily doses, however, your body will start to increase its production of the sleep "signaller" in an effort to get you back to normal. which is why people who rarely drink coffee get more of a buzz.weed's the same concept, but with dopamine. when you smoke weed, it forces your brain to release more dopamine. after continued use, to balance this, your body will produce less dopamine, as it expects some other portion of dopamine to come from marijuana. depending on how long you've smoked it, how often you smoke it and how much you smoke, you will develop different dependencies. withdrawl symptoms are due to the imbalance of dopamine.

note: there are wild differences between people when considering the amount of caffeine and weed (and cigarettes and crack, etc.) that they can take. it's not a universal constant. so some dude could be trippin on something that just buzzed you.

well, that's what i understand, at least.

It's a mental addiction. And I know a lot of people that subcontiously can't stop smoking weed.

I was also at the time starting to pop pills, but that's a different story...

I never said physically addicted, I said dependent. There is a difference. I also said that with enough use, there are clear changes in your brain that would suggest possible correlations to other addictions. There are also clear withdrawal symptoms. I don't really want to get into this with you, because I guarantee I know more about the brain, how it works, drugs, and the chemical processes of addiction in the brain than you. Have a good night.

Here is some food for thought.

Just quit, I didn't have a reason and I stopped on a dime, just to say I could. I quit August 2nd, and didn't smoke again til last weekend.

This was after 3 straight years of getting RIPPED every day.

Was I depressed for a couple weeks?

Yes

Did that stop me?

What do I look like, a fucking penguin?

i smoke weed everyday about 20 times a day and if i go on like a family vacation or something i will stop cold turkey for a week and have almost 0 withdrawal symptoms. The only withdrawal symptoms i guess i get are the lack of an appetite for about 2 days and i get a little grumpy for 2 days but after that im fine.

Doesn't sound like a conundrum to me get your priorities strait. And don't try to convince them they should change there stance. These nothing I regret more or am more embarrassed about now in my 20s than trying to convince my dad with Norml articles when I was 15. Holy crap will you regret that your delusional if you can't choose between your parents respect, shelter, support and image of you and getting high...

If we're going strictly by icons yes...but seriously just stop I know a fair amount of people on the same predicament and they just quit for awhile and once they moved out or the issue just became null they either just went back and kept smoking or quit completely.

They are bad, but it is a shit ton easier to test for weed than most drugs. By 'easier' I mean its metabolites are surprisingly detectable for a longer period of time compared to stimulants and opiates.

age is probably the most important factor in this decision. are you still in highschool? If yes, quit smoking weed. If no, keep smoking and leave.

just start doing heroin instead. then you'll have some time to think thru what you should about your weed problem..

Catholic and conservative you say? Weed may be bad for you, but nothing is as bad for you as Jesus and Glen Beck. If you aren't already stupid, you soon will be. Get out!
