Candide dropped by Quicksilver?

"Stab Magazine in Australia reports that with the exception of Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, Mark Healey, Craig Anderson and Stephanie Gilmore, allegedly all of Quiksilver's surf team has been released. Travis Rice is the only one that remains on the snowboard payroll, and Tony Hawk will represent their skateboard interests.

Additionally, DC Shoes, who is owned by Quiksilver, has axed their BMX and surf programs."
 
Well who ever bought Quicksilver shit anyways?

Two years I tried to buy Candide's Jacket from the Quicksilver store in Toronto, they didn't have it, didn't know QS sponsored a skier, and couldn't find it in a warehouse in North America.

I guess they're bigger in Europe ski wise? Who knows...
 
I am not quite sure if he is dropped or not, the US and the Europe Quiksilver are managed separately, which is why Woodsy and Candide are sponsored by Quiksilver but no North American skiers are. If you look at the current non-updated sites you will see that the .com site team consists of purely snowboarders and the .co.uk version is a mix. And going by that article they still don't know what is actually going on so give it a bit before drawing conclusions.
 
yea they did just spend lots of money making Few Words in conjunction with Candide it seems weird that they would dump alot of money into that and then let the athletes go right after.
 
I'm no marketing expert but I thought the idea was to have the best athlete on your team to represent you? If that's the case they should really cut everyone besides candide...
 
Pretty much exactly this. The long duck dong jacket or whatever from years back was like impossible to find, along with the fact that few words had how many premiers in all of north america? Four. Toronto, Boulder, Salt Lake, Whistler. I just don't get it, Art of Flight had/has a premiere in like every town in the world.
 
He'll probably go somewhere smaller than QS. Coreupt than Faction because to involve himself in small companies, for clothing and overall sponsoring I don't know what he can find in "small".
 
There are tons of small high-end clothing brands in the Alps with a healthy supply of cash who may want to start up a free ski line.

Or maybe Faction can now start clothing line.
 
Faction is coming out with clothing next season! Stuff looks real good, so hopefully Candide will link up with the outerwear program as well.
 
Didn't they fund a large part of Few Words? Within months of it releasing, would they drop Candide? Strange.

I'm sure he wouldn't have much trouble finding a new outerwear sponsor!
 
i dont see anywhere in there that he is dropped. It said they are making cuts. He wasnt named specifically so ill assume he's probably on par with T.Rice and will remain as their sole ski athlete. They should really pair up candide and travis for a cross sport movie. It would be like TITA and Few words had a baby.
 
That was their idea 10-15 years ago. But QS has been losing lots of money of the past few years primarily due to their smaller sub brands. They were also the first company to offer FULL sponsorships to their athletes, so that means salary. With all the new brands getting by these days QS has somewhat fallen by the wayside, so it's no wonder they have to cut a lot of their athletes to make up for lost revenue.

The reason I know all this is because I did my masters thesis on a full company analysis of QS
