Can you tie a tie?

I don't wear a tie often but when i do my dad will help me. but my dad is in china right now and i just had prom, so i youtubed it and i can now tie a tie.

can tie ties like a pro since I was 13! The only reason is cause I used to ride horses really competitively and I used to have to wear a tie as part of my show outfit. Its funny cause my 22 year old brother can't even tie a tie, and I always have to do it for him.

I can tie a tie without even looking in a mirror. I used to do that shit on the subway or while driving to work. As long as the bottom was right above my belt buckle I knew I got it right.

18. I learned for grad. Then forgot, then learned for some formal events, then forgot. I could probably pick it up really easy again, or maybe even just get it if I had a tie in front of me. I usually leave them tied and just loosen them off, so the time between tying them makes me forget.

It is far too broad, it looks tacky. You need a 4" tie blade to make it not look utterly ridiculous and tie blades that wide just look dumb. This does not necessarily apply if you're a fat mother fucker. Like if you're truly, truly portly, then it may be appropriate. In all normal circumstances, no.

This is the sort of thing you want a 4 in hand or pratt knot for (he's using a pratt I think, hopefully du doesn't mind me re-broadcasting his epic Raf Simons fit for educational purposes)

This is the sort of thing you might want a full windsor knot for.

Dig?

You are a tie guru, I've been tying ties since grade 7 and had no idea what you were talking about

dang I want the bag in the second picture. and the suit from the first.
I was going to come in here and see if anybody knew how to pair knots with collars but of course you post first.

yeah, in my sleep. im 17 now and ive had to do em since 9th grade for basketball, we used to dress up for every game.

...but make me tie one on another person, and I am toast!

I hear what you're sayin'. It definitely depends on the cut of the collar and on the tie itself. I'd agree that with a very narrow collar & a skinny tie, such as the one you presented, a full windsor would look incredibly tacky. However, with a wider cut collar & wider tie, such as those on an Express 1MX shirt as an example, I think a half, 4, or pratt looks too small. I guess it's all in the pairing.

I can tie a tie fine but if my little bro asks for help I can't just like tie it
I have to put it on and tie it then loosen it and give it to him

hahahah i just went to a sweet 16 for my friend and i had to tie a tie.... it is hard and i need a few tries but other than that i usually get it

i dont know how to tie a tie. the only time i ever wore one was for prom and it was a clip on haha

jea i did the whole boarding school thing for a year it took a couple weeks but i got it now its pretty easy like learning how to tie ur shoes but for grown ups

i can tie a windsor, half windsor, four in hand, and a pratt but not well

i wear a four in hand mostly just because i can do it in like 20 seconds but i'm gonna start rocking the half windsor more

i can first do it first try most of the time but occasionally i'll tie it ridiculously short or long and have to redo it.
