Can you remount new bindings in the same holes?

lets say I buy some skis that had been mounted before and the holes are exactly where I need to mount my bindings for them to be true center, can I remount in the same holes? can I fill them re drill and re mount?

What are your experiences with this?

Thanks

If the new bindings are the same hole pattern, I think you can even do it without heli coils. I had Salomon S810s on my K2 Silencers and when the S810s broke, The shop mounted new 912s in the same holes, and I'm almost positive they didn't heli-coil them. I haven't had any problems with them as of yet.

As far as I am concerned, most shops won't just screw the bindings into the existing holes and hand them back to you. They will either heli-coil them in, at your expense, or use glue to keep the bindings attached to your skis, and also to keep moisture from getting into your cores.

i dont think the glue actually does anything to hold the screws in, its only to keep moisture out. if i remember correctly its only shitty craft style glue which offers no support.

i would reccoment helicoils. iv had problems with my bindings ripping out of my skis and it really sucks. chances are your eventually going to have to helicoil them, i would do it now.

my two cents

i just hand mounted a pair of binders in the same holes
i didn't use heli-coils, i just threw some wood glue in there and they hold fine, i don't use the skis that much but just as long as the holes aren't stripped you should be fine

Helicoil if you are going to remount using the same holes. You would be pissed if your bindings ripped out.

I have used a loctite glue before to do that, I for get the # but it is designed for steel screws in wooden products under load. no problems and they were harder to get out than when the shop had mounted bindings for me.

Can people please stop posting bullshit they know nothing about?

Remount in the same holes, it's fine. I've done it to my own skis twice and to countless customers.

Check out TGR. Those people actually know what they are talking about. I re-used the same holes in a set of skis, just reglued them. The screws tightened right up and they held fine for anther year. Obvioulsy if the screw doesnt bottom out in the hole and keeps spinning then its time for heli-coil or a remount.

figured i'd bump this instead of making a new one
i have bacons that have been drilled for sth 12's and then the bindings have been taken out and remounted in the same holes again, i dunno why, i didn't do it. i bought the skis blank and i have sth 12's that i would mount in the same holes but i'm not sure if it's one too many times
so the skis have been
original mounted
unmounted
mounted again in same holes
unmounted
and i'm thinking of mounting them in the same holes again, dangerous? the holes are not stripped but it seems super dangerous to do it so many times, i might just get them re-drilled for fks
one ski has been drilled once
the other has been drilled twice for sth 12's, which will damage the ski more?

If the holes are in good shape i say got for the same holes. makes sure to clean the threads with a tap, be careful not to crossthread. seal them well with woodglue. To put that one ski on a 3rd mount is really putting it on its last legs, especially a soft ski like that. I have see squads mounted like 5 times, but thats due to the dense core and tons of metal. Helicoiling is always an options as well.

ur fine, just throw some wood glue in the holes and ull be fine.

i have fischer addicts and i have broken the heel piece 2 times, and this is the third time ive put them in the holes. its fine as long as the holes arent stripped. i had some old skogens and i have taken the bindings out and put them on other skis then put them back on the skogens a couple times. its the same thing as screwing a screw into any screw hole, either will work fine if its not stripped

as long as the bindings didnt pull out you're good to go, toss some wood glue in dem bitches and rockout.
