Basically i want to bring my PS2 to the US and play some movies and such. Will is work or will it be a nightmare connecting it to the back to the tv??

Any help is appreciated.

Rich

yeah u can, do u use SCTART plugs or the norm red white and yellow plugs, coz if u use scart just get an adapter, theyre everywhere, but get a chip for the PS2 coz if u buy any new games u wont be able to play em without a chip

apparently it helps control pirating but i dont think its really very effective. Same with DVDs.

Europe and North America also use different signal types (NTSC vs PAL) so you will need a converter COnverter to get the video on the screen properly

ok, its been a year and im over it but i was retarded enough to buy a sony vid camera in austria when i was there for a month. as someone said above there are two different formats in tv's, cameras, various electronics. the US uses NTSC and most of europe uses PAL. a PAL format electronic will not work properly on an NTSC television, more specifically it will be fuzzy as shit and in black and white. converters are expensive and hard to find, especially from PAL to NTSC.

on another note, are there any europeans looking to pick up a sweet sony video camera for really really cheap? pm me.

Not sure about the tv but dont you use 112volt elctric in the US cos its 240volt in europe. Be careful cos your ps2 might melt.

^are you serious? i would love to see someone try to force a euro plug into an american socket. i think it is physically impossible, the plugs are completely different.

i wanna know what the hell these companies are thinking

also, im prolly gonna go to china this summer and i want to see if i can get any blackmarket electronics, so i gotta research this shit

You can get plug adapters though. Also if you look on the back of your PC theres a switch to turn it from 240 to 112volts or the other way incase you cross the atlantic with it.(there is on mine anyway). I dont know what happens if you do use the wrong voltage though. Its worth checking out.

they are rated to 220 volts there, here appliances are rated to 120 or higher, just means that your ps2 will be more resiliant if theres a voltage spike
