Can ski edits be like this?

not sure what youre trying to get at. i mean it was a chill vibe but not much more than that. i think its more in the category of why bother

of course they can be like that.

Are there some rules that dictate the creativity of the filming, the editing, and the song choice? Nope, I don't think there are any constraints like that. Sure, it would probably get hated on by a couple 12 year olds, but ski edits can certainly be like that.

only problem is they didnt do a single thing entertaining in the edit. watch some people hit cattrack jumps and ride over mini trees? no thanks

It says it's closing weekend, and I don't know about you guys, buy this is exactly what me and my friends did. We hit up whole buncha sidehits and random stuff. End of the season is all about fun...so this goes great.

so you want to see kids do dubs all day. clearly you are dumb.
yee duncan that was an ill edit to watch. wasn't really feeling the music but i could def tell they were having fun and just enjoying everything they had. da illest

You are missing a fundamental purpose of filmmaking here. I'm sorry that your narrow view of action sports videography has implemented the idea that every video needs to be full of "stunts." Do you know what motif is?

By your logic, people like Andy Kaufman or Darren Aronofsky have no merit because their art isn't "entertaining." You should look into Michael Bay. His work is the most entertaining after all...

Obviously they can't be like that there was not gangster, didn't have any gun motions or afterbang.

Just kidding everyone has a different style of making videos and this is just another one. It's going to appeal to some people and other people it won't. This video doesn't have any park hits it just has going out and doing some natural features on closing day so I don't think it's going to appeal to many people because this isn't the most exciting thing to watch.

Id enjoy a couple edits like this. Reminds me of some times i have with friends when we get away from park skiing and dick around the mountains, its a blast!

I didn't really see anything special in that edit. Just a Doors track and some heshers having fun. As far as stunt-maneuvers go, nothing in there that couldn't be found in something like TC

That makes no sense because that wasn't even BC. Anyways, BC is not boring to watch at all unless they're just shredding lines through trees wearing a helmet cam that goes for more than a minute and shit like that.

he meant because...
I thought the edit was pretty cool, noting too special but it was a nice change of pace from your typical edit.

This is exactly the mentality that is different between skiing and snowboarding. Snowboarders are stoked on the little side hit crap, I for one am with them, I think it's sick. Skiers need to see a 4 pretzel 4 to be in impressed. Lame. Not saying this is you're attitude, but you're kind of proving my point whether you want to see a 4 pretzel 4 or not.

I love being able to spend a day doing sidehits and mountain jibs and not worry about not learning a new trick or not riding park at all. Go have some fun!

because skiers are haters and have no souls and want to sell out to go pro by doing quadruple flips the 1st chance they get.

I'm a snowboarder. I respect skiing but ski videos have become so generic. They're all about big bangers, hip hop (usually shitty hip hop), and afterbang. They have become extremely unartistic. That's fine, people can make videos however they'd like, however EVERY ski edit I watch is nearly the same. Followcams on a glidecam, super saturated, HD, guns, gang signs, ect.

I guess I just appreciate the artistic side (being a filmmaker myself) and it gets really boring watching a million edits cut to the beat of a rap song.

Here's some "different" snowboard edits that may or may not interest you......

for some reason I can't embed so I'm going to post the embed code and the quote myself to see if it works.

The ROME video was obviously pretty ill and well made.

However, how was the second one better than anything else? Because it had more filler, more macro/DOF shots? a song that's slightly different?

To the OP - It's great to have edits like that sometimes. It's really fun to make edits like that of you and your friends for the sake of making them. But why anyone would want a bunch of edits like that is beyond me. That was really just an edit of people fucking around and doing mostly unimpressive things, filmed a little above par. There's hundreds of those all over NS. There wasn't really anything "different" about that, besides that it didn't have a bunch of bangers in it.

I start watching edits like that, start skipping through to see if anything cool is going to happen, and then realize that I'm going to have a lot more fun hanging out with my friends and fucking around then watching other people having fun who I don't know.
