Can Drive in 2 Weeks= Need Touring Spots-Banff Area

I turn 16 in 2 weeks which means I'll be able to drive. Been looking forward to this for a long time and need some tips and locations in the Banff, Kananaskis area. Anything is appreciated. Btw subaru AWD lyfe

Pretty much all the spots on the above link require travel through complex terrain.... so maybe not great spots if you don't have a whole lot of experience in the group.... maybe someone else can weigh in on less complex locations.

I have taken a couple avy courses and have passed my big mountain teams avy test, which is mostly timed beacon work. I would for sure stay within my limits of touring because of the knowledge that I lack.

Buy the guidebook "Summits and Icefields in the Canadian Rockies". The "Powder slopes near the road" and Kananaskis sections were pretty handy when I was starting out for finding good spots before working my way up to other stuff in subsquent years and in the spring when stability is better.

Buy in store. Most ski touring oriented shops in the Edmonton/Calgary/Canmore/Banff area should have copies.

Backcountryskiingcanada.com has some additional routes, though it is missing a couple of good ones in Kananaskis.

Black Prince, Bow summit, Crowfoot glades and Tryst Lake are good places to start out, just remember what you learned in your avalanche courses, there are a lot of n00bs like you out there and a lot of stupid skintracks. Don't blindly follow them.
