Well im pretty sure they are already high res but i need some way to make them wallpaper-able.

I love Mattias Fredriksson's photography and would love to have some of his shots as desktop wall paper.

I could always take a screenshot and crop out the photo (it wont let you set it as a backround off the site itself) but then the picture would lack in quality. This is where you guys come in!

Here is the site.

Thanks!

well thats what i though. Then i found all these threads with people asking similar requests so i thought it was possible.

lazf- I did e-mail him but i just made this thread as a back up

1st. He designed his site purposely so you CANT "right click" and save etc. So people do not steal his work, like you are trying to do(as innocent as it is).

2nd. Since you directly linked it here, assuming he runs his own website, he will find this thread as soon as he looks where his current web traffic is coming from.

Now that would be funny.....considering your trying to contact members to help you steal his images(and you CANT high res a image).

Like i stated previously i didnt think you could hi res a pic until i saw a bunch of other dumb nsers asking the same question so i apologize.

Secondly id say steal is a harsh word. Im not trying to profit off his work im just trying to put it somewhere where i can marvel at it everyday. AKA my computer screen.

Oh well i failed pretty hard with this thread. I apologize.

so if i take a TV from the store "just to enjoy it" and don't make any money from it, its not stealing?you're trying to take this product without paying for it.....stealing.

they are both productsthey both cost money to makeby stealing the photo and not purchasing it, you are depriving the artist of income the same way that you would deprive sony of profits if you took their TV instead of paying for it.how is that not clear....

Its clear its just a shitty analogy.

When you take a tv your taking a device from a store that is trying to sell their product.

Mattis Fredriksson doesnt sell prints or anything. He gets photo's published he doesnt sell individual copies so there's really no way i could get one. Once you take one photo you can make unlimited copies on the internet. Thats the beauty of it. If I take a tv from a store, im depriving them of an actuall item they could have sold to make money. Now they need to pay to make a new one. If i copy and paste a photo it doesnt hurt the photographer one bit. Im not posting it all over the internet or anything, im just admiring his work everytime i turn on my computer.

Besides I guarentee youve downloaded music illegally or watched a downloaded movie or something along that nature. Those are even worse because thats someone getting a copy of a dvd or cd that they would have otherwise purchased.

If i copy this picture he doesnt loose a potential customer and in turn potential profit. He couldnt have profited of me anyway because he doesnt sell prints.

huh I assumed he sold prints. Well then I guess its a non-issue. except the attitude of "unlimited free copies!" is what screws over artists and musicians. copying photos (if they were for sale) does hurt the photographer, because they lost the money that you would have paid them for the photo. its a big issue, and I realize that preaching about it on the interwebz isnt going to stop anyone. and, believe it or not, i haven't stolen any music or media, because i've had it done to me and i know how shitty it is when you have essentially no control over it. But again, I suppose it makes no difference to Mattias because his shit isn't for sale.

wrong again man

1st. He ONLY makes a living buy selling published images etc....

Now you realize, by copying & pasting it all over the internet, you just devalued his work entirely. Here is why

If i was a big name company looking to pay Mattis big dollars to use his images, I would want EXCLUSIVE(Only person to have the image, and use it) rights to it. I would NEVER pay for a photo that has been bouncing around the internet/people might have already stolen/possibly being used elsewhere. Now who would be the one that "leaked" that copyright image around? That one that I will no longer pay for because I found it around the web? You, by not understanding that copying & pasting his images, DOES NOT HELP HIM.

Right there, you have already directly affect the only way he is making a living, through photography.

Yea i know... Thats why i said i WOULDNT be posting all over the internet. It would just be my backround

it doesnt matter, just because you arent going to make a profit by selling the images. why should he let YOU use his image for free? why does everyone else have to pay for the images?

instead of arguing with kids here, e-mail the guy and see how he feels about it. If he doesn't mind you using it, then he will give you the high res image. That's the only way to get it, end of story.

/thread

also inb4 shitstorm of people bitchin at me

I love when people try to get photos for free. You honestly think you shouldn't have to pay for the use of something?

can we let this thread die? I still stick to my argument i just hoenstly dont care that much anymore. Its not the end of the world if i dont get one of those pics ill just use one of the other many hi res ski pictures around the internet.

it's wonderful what the internet and millions of point and shoot cameras has done for the world of photography isn't it.
