Summer is just about here. Who all enjoys pitching a tent in the middle of a forest with some good friends and chilling for a day or two?

I know I do, who else is with me?

I camp and backpack, mostly camp though, we usually take my friends boat out and load it up and land it on some island in the middle of our res, so we can do whatever without getting caught. And yes chicks do come along.

bahaha. Your sexuality seems to be about as secure as your tent.
But fuck yeah bro, for real, I'm about to drop almost a grand on ultralight backpacking gear. If my baseweight is over 10 pounds, I rethink it. I'm even getting a negative 20 degree north face bag this year to take to AK/WA with me in a couple years

-20?

that aint shit mang.

no offense, but if you intend on an actual bivouac situation to happen, -20 is worthless, absolutely worthless.

well, i'm not saying im an expert.

but weve been in the backcountry at -60, which pretty much blows ass.

i live in washington, and id say for real cold weather gear you pretty much need to hit up climbing gear. the stuff thats designed for the mountains is what you really want.

i have a -20 bag for car camping, and its really not that warm, our alpine stuff is a lot nicer, and more tecnichal.

since you're plannin on coming out here id recommend just gettin legit stuff, and then get lighter gear later.

Man up, I fucking hiked Philmont with a 60lb pack. After backpacking for most of scouts, Ive learned one thing, Ultralight gear is not tough gear.

Nevermind, I thought we were talking about weight, not warmth....my fail.

Winter camping sucks though, end of story. I am not a cold blooded person.

i cant think of anything off the top of my head, im sure theres some sort of climbing gear place near you, id ask them, also, keep in mind that unless you can help it, you probably wont be sleeping outside in sub arctic conditions.

boat camping is the best, whether on a lake or rafting down a river.

You don't have to carry anything, you can bring a TON of shit, you don't end up just off some road, plus the water sports sure beat out a scavenger hunt or whatever else you can do while camping.

are you talking about house boats? because that is not camping, and i dont know if you go on many river trips, but you dont bring TONS of shit. Not to mention water sports are only fun when its warm.

plus who the fuck goes on scavenger hunts while they are camping? you climb mountains, explore slot canyons, climb/repel, get wasted, go fishing, find wildlife, or whatever the fuck you are in to.

I don't have a houseboat time share, but that is even better. Usually just bring all the stuff in our little boat, find a nice beach and unload.

I can without a single bit of doubt say I've been on more, and better rafting trips than you. 18 day private trip through the Grand tops the list. And yes, you can and do bring a ton of shit, compared to what you can take backpacking.

Watersports only fun when it's warm? not if you have a wet suit. But camping in the cold isn't much fun either.

Everything you listed to do when camping you can do if you get to the camping spot by boat, and a couple of the things are even better with a boat, fishing, exploring slot canyons...

so in short you're a little hater with nothing to say

winter camping is badass, nothing like the boundary waters in january. I've always wanted to go someplace cooler in the winter to camp but i ski instead

Just got back from Moab with my brand new tent. Camping is so fun in the summer. I just need to get a camping stove and a backpacking backpack and I'm set.

I also enjoy camping. last year when we went camping we went on a daytrip to an abandoned mine.. that was pretty cool

Yo, I'm all about rafting. It so fun, you go for weeks at a time. you'd be amazed how much shit you can fit on a raft. And the camping sites change every day, just chilling on the flat water is amazing, then slayin huge holes (no homo)

Just the overall atmosphere is amazing on a raft trip. Anyone else raft?

yeah man camping is sick im going camping with my school in a week or two cant wait but other than that i love going out in a boat and camping on islands/cool areas on my lake

The last time I went camping, we had a 21st birthday party for a friend. The campsite owners said that if we came back we would be arrested on site....sorry Canoe Point State Park. But when we really go camping I usaully pack the dry well of my kayak with a bag and some edibles. rock the tent and phishing pole in the front by my feet and the herbage and glass and cigs and lighter go in a waterproof cellphone case. Most fun ive ever had is kayaking the saint lawrence river with some select friends.
