Camping the summer away - suggestions ??

Hey ladies

So I'm spending my summer camping in Oregon - Just about two months. I'll be skiing as well but it's my first time camping this long.

From one lady to another - what are some things I should remember to bring or make sure to do?

I'm super good at overpacking as well and a bit of a noob. I totally wouldn't mind some help to ease my stress lol

hey! what kind of facilities will you have access to? will it be pretty backcountry or what? I've done a few longer stints, between 2 weeks and a month with girls in both backcountry and primitive and more developed sites so I might be able to help you out.

its pretty primitive - its good ole free camping in the woods - not at a campground or anything.

The basic notion is that were camping at the base of Hood (or wherever there isnt snow lol) and skiing there for the summer. I assume we can go into town to do laundry when needed (but its 45 min away) ... we will be staying in a tent but driving to the mtn each day

Baby wipes and dry shampoo for when you can't access a shower( though there are lakes and stuff).

At the corner of 26 and the govy loop, there's a rest stop with bathrooms. I went there to poop, brush my teeth, wash my face etc.

theres a ton of places to camp. We stayed at trillium/the airstrip but finding a place shouldn't be difficult. The only issue right now is I think everything is snowed in? Which means it's probably a little wet. Bring tarps haha.

Bring a small grill or cooler. I ate so much PBJ and dry food I was sick of it. Would have been neat to have something else. Food out there can be pretty expensive. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAVIG AT LEAST ONE WRAP FROM WRAPTITUDE. IT IS SOOOOOOO GOOD. And it's only like 20 minutes down 26. Def check it out.

Sweet!! you'll have a great time. few things I've learned backpacking:

Pee rag - Bandana, tie it on your pack/ A tree so it gets sun and sterilizes in the sun. only use it to wipe pee, but it'll help with UTI's.

Metal trowel - If you plan on pooping in the woods, get a metal one. Plastic ones break. On the same note, the 3-rock method is the best way to wipe in the backcountry. Exactly what it sounds like.

LNT - Leave no trace. Should be obvious but don't leave trash or anything, and try to not leave food out, it's bad for the animals.

Pumps are better than gravity filters - Iodine is also an option if you don't have regular access to clean water, but I've always used MSR Pumps and they've worked great.

DON'T USE BUG SPRAY NEAR WATERPROOF THINGS LIKE TENTS AND JACKETS! - Seriously, it will basically melt the waterproofing even if it's just on your skin from hours ago. It's better to wear rain gear at all times (pants and jackets)

P-Cord and Rope - have quite a bit of both parachute cord and rope, they'll come in handy. Learn some knots too. I'm not sure about the bear situation on hood, but bears aren't worth messing with, learn to do a bear hang.

Extra Tarps- 2 or 3 to make a lean - to for cooking, one to "burrito" packs and whatnot in overnight, and one inside the tent. You could use one in and one out too if that's your thing.

Leatherman- incredibly useful to have pliers/screwdrivers/knives etc. I'm assuming you'll be close to your car so a toolbag in the car would be fine too.

That's what I've got off the top of my head, but I'm sure I'll think of more. Let me know if you have any questions!!!
