Regionals is dead so I'm posting here.

Going to mammoth for some spring park skiing this May. Is there free camping around? Any tips on how to have the best time? How's the park that time of year?

Yes

you can stay in my backyard

come alone, no weapons, and lather up your body in advance

Can't come alone the homies are committed too, my body is already a weapon, but I can definitely get good and lathered up.

Gimme an address bud let's make this happen

Just outside of mammoth off the Sherwin Creek exit there are some free campsites. Go like you’re leaving mammoth, hop on the 395 south and then take the first right off the road. Follow the dirt road to the foothills of the mtn and there are like 5 free campsites.

That or go camp near the hot springs. It’s mostly BLM land out there so camping is mellow.

You can camp anywhere on the mammoth scenic loop as far as I know, but depending on the year there could be too much snow right now.

Ye I’ll sauce it too you

+1 for car camping on the scenic loop. Bonus if you have skins and can hit some of the mellow slush runs all around the loop.
