Camping in Mammoth

I'm planning a roadtrip and looking to go ski at Mammoth for a week or so in early/mid June. What are some good camping spots? And is it busy usually at that time of the year? Ideally I wouldn't want to reserve, as I don't have a specific arrival date.

Also, are there places where you can park overnight and sleep in your car?

Thanks

I have only car camped in Bishop. I went to Owens Valley. It was closed due to the season being winter so we just parked and camped and hung out during the day. Snow has melted as of now too.

you can car camp anywhere near mammoth as long as your not close to the resort, bishop is a pretty good spot. you could also prob find somewhere less crowded near mono lake

i recommend camping at shady rest park. If you far enough in you will pass a sign that says you're leaving the "fee required area" or something like that and all the sites past there offer free camping. You can also camp for free of sherwin creek road. Both are pretty close to town. Hit me up if need any more info

Mammoth is super ski able right now. Went a couple days ago super fun still. Weather is super warm but theres top to bottom skiing lots still open and a pretty small park.
