No. I doubt he's ready for a DVX.

Screw the GL1, you'll definitely regret that.

If you're just looking for a reasonably nice camera with some manual controls and a handle, then go for the GL2. Yes, people will say it's obsolete, but if you want to actually learn how to use a camera, then the GL2 is a good place to start.

If you're not so much into filmmaking (i.e. just looking for a point and shoot that puts out reasonably nice video) than go with an HV30.

Just curious - how experienced are you with video? I'm just curious as to whether these recommendations for super nice cameras are good for you just yet...

ya didnt know his video capabilities....

but if you dont know a lot DO NOT get the dvx... you will want to kill yourself and all your footy will look like DUMP..
