Camera or no camera while skiing

obisly this dose not mean go pro or no go pro. to make the title more clear do ever carry a camera while you ski or do u just use your phone or nothing at all. personaly i would only bring a camera when i have a backpack or somthing wich means im going probly be quiet adventures so in that case i might bring my 35mm konica point and shoot or my bronica 645 or my dslr. but if im not bringing a back pack i would not bring a camera i also would not just bring a back pack so i could bring a camera. in most case i would just use my iphone wich i think requires some skill if you actully want to take a good picture even tho most agree.

so what do you guys n gals do? do you bring a camera or do you just use your phone? or do you do something completely different?

oh and for you phone shooters out there you should take a look at thishttp://momentlens.co/

i really want to get both lens as i shoot with my phone 90% of the time and i think this would add alot of fun and make my photos better. oh and if you think th olo clip thing is better theres no comption between the moment lens and the oloclip the moment lens has way better optical quilty.

anyways what are your thoughts?

My SLR hasn't been on snow in over 4 years. Currently an S95 is in my pocket at all times and takes 5 seconds to take out and shoot. RX100 coming in December. If you're not printing your shots then an SLR is a waste.

ya i agree even an iphone will do especially if you put a moment lens on it that helps alot with the quilty of pics. the rx100 is nice camera but i think i perfer to shoot with my phone

I hire an illegal sherpa to carry all my camera gear.

Lhundup is a loyal servant and only costs me 20 quid a day, well proper deal.

Phone everyday, usually a gopro too. I'll usually have a filming bag in my car, so then if the weather is good and people are down, I can film/take real photos.

did you ever take an english class? ever? #worsethenbrettfischer

7D in a fanny pack if I am on a photo mission, go pro in my pocket most days just in case I decide to man up and try something, then I'll have a buddy shoot it. Sometimes bring the trusty olympus OM10 out in the fannypack as well.

Honestly though, if I want to enjoy my skiing then I leave all the cameras behind. Shooting photos is super fun but I hate skiing with the stress of a camera. I love emptying all my pockets and dropping into a good storm with just some tunes and friends. Skiing with the camera for a few days makes skiing without it so much better.

ya i agree if im bring a pack like when i might bring a probe water and stuff then i dont mind bring a camera like my bronica or this 35mm point and shoot. but id rather ski with just my phone and my tune maybee with my go pro

This winter I plan on bringing a small, light, point and shoot film camera with me for shooting landscapes and such while on snow. Other than that, phone camera will suffice for random-whatever instagram shots, but if something's worth taking a shot to make a print of, I'll definitely be bringing some film out there.

I've been impressed with both my Nikon L35 and my Olympus Stylus for this. I don't particularly feel the need to take a digital with me if I'm trying to go light. Film permits that for sure.

I'm going the opposite of all you guys

I'm STOKED that I finally have a good backpack to bring my DSLR and 3 lenses (Fish, 17-40, and 70-200) with me everyday.

I got an FStop Guru, and it can fit all of that nicely as well as my avy gear, so it'll be perfect for pow inbounds and touring day trips

Yeah, I'd definitely bring a pack and gear with me if I was doing something specific or going out of bounds, but I can't stand wearing a pack for every-day in-bounds skiing if I don't need to.

I feel that, but I ski with avy gear inbounds, so I have my pack anyways

I'm rarely in a situation where it's necessary in-bounds - or at least I haven't been in like 4 or 5 years since we haven't had a worthwhile snow year in that time.

New pack! If I do bring a camera, I usually throw avy gear in too because Baker... and plus then I can bring food and not have to go hungry/go back to the car to get stuff. That being said, I usually ski without my full setup unless on a mission but if I have room I will throw my x100s in the pack since it is small and light.

I don't mind skiing with a full kit (5d, 17-40, 70-200, F Stop Loka), I have a Canon G15 now that I usually ski with but not having a proper viewfinder is really annoying when its bright out. Unless its a pow day or your hiking in the backcountry, suck it up and take your damn camera kit!
