Camera Insurance

I am going off to college next year, and I am worried that because I am living in the dorms my camera gear might have the possibility of getting stolen. Any ideas what I could do in terms of insurance or making sure my stuff doesn't get stolen.

It depends on the price of your gear. I had a t2i and lens kit stolen when I was traveling and it was covered by my parents home owners insurance because they claimed it on the policy. if your gear is on the more expensive side you can get a policy that just covers your camera equipment. I use this company when I rent equipment for freelance shoots.

I would just google camera insurance and see what works best for the gear you have.

you'll have to pay a deductible of 500 to 1000 if something does happen to it so keep that in mind

When I lived in the dorms I always had my hvx insured on my parents home owners. I think it still may be. Now that I live in my apartment I have renters insurance through my auto insurance that covers things being stolen from inside my house as well from my car. I have like 15,000 worth of insurance I think. If someone stole my camera bag it would hit me real hard haha
