Camera Filters

When the camera says 37mm...i am guessing that is the thread depth or something to that extent. Is that the only thing i have to consider when buying a new lense for my camera or is there something else? I am talking just straight compatibility not quality or anything else.

there is no standard (and 37 seems a little small), I think most slr cameras range around 49, 52, 55, 58 mm threads (the number is the mm diameter of the lens) and I know that the GL1/2 and I think the vx2000 have 58mm. Also just don't go buying lens without a purpose for them because they start to get expencive.

no man, i think most regular consumer video cameras (the vx2000 is NOT a regular camera) use 37mm threads...at least i know my current hi8 and miniDV cameras both use that.

I can't really say about slr cameras though...i am a digi boy :-)

yea digital is smaller normaly, i almost always shoot 35mm though. I've almost never seen a digi cam thats come close to the same quality for stills (I did get to shoot with an EOS2 which was bad ass). As for consumer DV cams 39 sounds about right. when i hear filters I just assume photographs and slr cameras.
