Camera acc. help

alright so i got a new camera for skiing this year. and i have been in search of one of those bars that screws into the tripod screw hole, and its a pice of metal shaped like a U. so that you can hold it from that instead of the actual camera. i dont know what that is called, or even where to buy one. so if someone could help me and tell me the name of what it is, and where to get one, that would be sick. thanks.
 
is it that simple? i thought there was some specific name for it. its just a piece of metal that goes from the bottom up above the back and over the camera.

most people make their own, unless you have a camera with one built on/into its design. what kind of camera do you have?
 
look around http://www.hv20.com for ideas, im sure you will find a thread on how someone made one, or look at the pics and figure it out.
your best bet is to get some form of metal and make a C shape (or three quarters of a square) and use some sort of screw to attach it through a hole
