I am looking into buying a new camcorder, but I don't have a good idea what would be best out in the field...Which one is best?

 
canon makes better camcorders but the good ones tend to be larger in size. while sony makes better smaller sized camcorder. i have a sony TRV17 and its awesome. great quality and a good lense.
