Camcorder Under 500

My dad apparently needs a camcorder for some small job at his work, but the video quality does actually kind of matter. I know there's threads like this around, but I really can't tell what the difference is in terms of quality between one or the other is because the market is flooded with cameras that really look the same to me. Can anyone just recommend a camera that they know is good that

-is less than 500

-shoots 1080 (easy)

-writes to SD (easy)

-is actually somewhat decent?

TM700 would be my bet, must be quite old now, my dads had one for years, but it's still a killer camera, + going just over $500 on amazon.

check ebay and craigslist. I found a mint tm700 on craigslist for $380 and love the thing
