This, with a good stuff nail brush and a pumice stone to grind the bits out of calluses and cracks in your hands.

The only option imo

They also make an extra hardcore version of this if your shit is getting real oily.

at work we have these tubs of green abrasive powder soap that work well. if i forget to wash my hands before i leave, dove shampoo also works pretty well

Garage King here.

First off, wear gloves. The Mechanix brand rubber gloves are the best and most durable imo.

Second, Fast Orange is the best gritty soap, Gator Wipes are the best wet wipe, and Dawn Powerwash dish spray is the best regular grease cutting soap. Use an old toothbrush for creases and under your nails.

But just wear gloves, its always easier.

as the other dude said wear gloves but my tip is don't wear the latex ones. find some good breathable reusable gloves the latex ones make my hands sweat too much

They have Cherry Bomb at my work. I don't think it works quite as well as Fast orange though. Dawn dish soap works well too.

Oil breaks down latex. Not a solve for mechanics. Nitrile gloves work, but no mechanic honestly is gunna wear gloves for 9 hours straight

Gojo or whatever. In a pinch I've used sugar and dawn. Like said above get use to wearing gloves it's the only real way to not have to scrape skin out of your hands if you want them to look clean when you're a mechanic

It's really not that bad wearing gloves all day long

Wearing rubber gloves all day sucks. Which is what I think he was implying. I did an oil change today here in south Florida. 95 degrees 80% humidity. Wasn’t even sunny. Cloudy as fuck. Literal thunder and lightning going on while I’m working. 3 mins into putting on fresh rubber gloves my hands were soaked and pruny as fuck. No way I’d last all day

It really is though. Worked in a lab for 2.5 years and was wearing latex/nitrile for 8 hours a day. Sucked ass.

Bro I keep the ac pumping in the house. I can’t drive the car into the living room for an oil change. Wait a minute. It is a mini Cooper. ?

The right gloves for the right job. Oil changes and such latex/nitrate gloves, for tire changes and part swaps I use the HyFlex rubber/cloth ones, and for all other heavy duty jobs I have a good pair of leather gloves. I do have a drawer designated for gloves in my tool box as they are tool. When it comes to washing my hands when they are greasy, like mentioned above, Fast Orange works well and if you really want to get to it, get a pumice stone and scrub your hands with dawn.

Yeah hands end up in a pool of sweat I can do half the day but not full

I wouldn't be making a statement like that without personal experience to back it up. To each their own I guess

Glad to hear I’m not only one who rarely wears gloves. Some people wear them so religiously it makes me feel cancer from all the neglect I do of protecting my hands.

I can’t stand wearing gloves. I will sometimes throw nitrate gloves and my hands sweat so bad in them.
