hey A-Crew here, we are looking for good urban footage. we are willing to buy it from you, even if its not hd we would still be interested. it will be used in the third nipple dvd dropping this summer. we will credit you fully and hit you up with a free copy of the dvd
 
uhhh, I'dlove for some footage from you guys, of like Steve, and D-Crew kids cuz i already have footage of them , but not enough.

I only have urban footage from MA and VT thou.
 
haha yea, that's why a trade seemed so amazing, but i understand the effort that goes into urban and why he wouldn't want to give any of it up.

but any of you others willing to sell yourself? ;)
 
is it a stricktly minnesota film? cuz if not and me and andy from wisco are planning on getting some urban footage pretty soon from around here. i think bp might be in on it too but im not really sure.
 
its really hard to trade for urban footage because it cost us so much to do every rail. atleast like 60 bucks each one because of gas in my truck, salt, water, and even more then that if you count wear and tear on our already shitty equipment. Its just hard to give away clips of our urban when all of this money went into it, and all we are trading for is film that you guys filmed at a competition where anyone could have been filming...
 
I hesitate to type this, but... here it goes

We are talking about a midwest film here, everyone is in the same situation, we are all under appreciated and under paid, we all have the same lack of resources so sharing each others resources is sometimes important, first off the more widespread your footage is the more exposure your athletes get and your filmers get.

say lots of people on NS watch A-Crew's movie but not as many see Tony's, if your footage was in A-Crews people would be seeing you skiing and the footage from your movie too, and may be more interested in seeing tony's movie.

Honestly nothing here is going to come close to the trades that happen in the pro industry, and the way you are putting it Tony, it sounds like you expect that to happen.

I could justify you giving your footage away, but I guess when it comes down to it, it depends on how stingy you are feeling about it ( i hate to put it this way but it's true ),

This already happens alot with east coast film produces Stept, Furst Class, and Tuckered Out, share footage pretty openly, theres not too much thought that goes into it.

I mean you put that money into the urban as you said, you'd think you'd want more people to see it.
 
I'm not being stingy i just dont know if i want our footy to be in another movie, i kind of want it to exclusive to our movie. if you would have asked me last year i would have definately said yes, but if you could tell this year, we kind of changed the way we did things with the welch crews footy. last year we made tons of edits and showed almost everyone our footy and by time our video came out, everyone had seen pretty much all of it in edits. so this year came around and me and my bro decided to save everything for the movie so that we can amaze people when they see it, we dont want it to be shown until the movie is all done
 
the urban footy that we have is worth way more to us then film from a competition, just because it cost us so much time and effort, urban takes a long time and alot of planning, you cant just show up anytime and film like you can at a competition, it takes alot of planning and research to figure out when the best time is to do a rail, and what is going to be needed to do it.
 
haha true, I was just clairfying how the way he put it sounded, Reading his response answers some questions for me and I can see where he is coming from.

Word of advice to Welch Crew, you don't have a trailer or anything telling people about your project / movie, If you put the work into I would think you'd want to share your Hard Work.
 
My take on this kinda schtuf,

I wouldn't give out any of my footage if I didn't trust the people who would be editing it. They would have to appeal to me in a sense that they would convey the footage in a similar way that I myself would. I wouldn't want to give someone my footage and have it look like shit in their movie because they thought that ramped slomo on every trick or a thousand white flashes were dope edited with Creed's latest single, yagattaimean?

I don't blame anyone for not wanting to trade footage. Everyone wants to have their footage exclusive, which makes sense, it's discretionary. People may not want to buy a certain vid if they've seen footage from it in another vid. Plus with urban footage, it's mostly hard work getting the shots. You gotta have generator(s), lighting sets, a rail to not get kicked out of, and a lot of other whathaveyous.

I'm down with sharing footage if I think I can benefit from it. I think a better alternative to contributing footage is contributing segments. Just an idea tho.

p.s. BP - can you save me a spot for my trailer on the ns teaser page? Unfortunately my trailer will be tardy this year due to technical problems with my cam. :(

i told everyone that i wont have a trailer up for a while because i have been so busy working, i probally wont even start editing till the fall when i go back to school because i will have more time, sorry
 
we probally wont sell our movie, i work everyday, this is like one of my first days off and im stuck here editing a wedding, haha, fuck, i would if i could, but i got no time
 
nah dude, id rather put it off and edit it myself later rather then give someone all the footage that we worked so hard on, dont worry, ill have a trailer up soon, i promise
 
I know I don't post much because I am busy with other shit too, but I come on here every once and a while and read all this shit that every one is saying. It is kind of ridiculous to tell the truth.

1st There is nothing wrong with collaborating, especially if credit is given where it is due.

2nd Tony does have the right to just say, "no thankyou," but honestly why not? If you did 75 urbans and you gave 15 to A-Crew and they were sick, that would interest me enough to see the other 60 that would be exclusive to Tony's video. Whether you are selling your video or not, I would still want to see my skier amigos from Welch kill it.

3rd BP has a really good point, this is very far from pro industry. Everyone can stop acting like it.

4th As Drew would put it, the Midwest is a different community. Not just in skiing, but collectively in skateboarding, snowboarding, whatever. No matter who you ride for, why you ride, what shit you have on, who is skiing next to you… We all go to the hill for one and the same thing. It’s fun to showcase that.

5th The 3rd Nipple actually isn’t a bad name. A-Crew does a really nice job with their editing, a lot better than I could ever come close too and way better than others I have seen. I give them props for filming, editing and premiering a video that isn’t limited to anyone and is purely non-profit. What other crew, kids, team or unit has done that? They can call their video whatever they want and I hope that all of you would have the decency to respect that.

I think its because theres alot of Hype for your footage in this thread, and I didn't know personally dave had that much. Dave, are you relasing a movie this year?
 
I hope no one is angry man... that would mean that everyone is taking this too seriously. If you are saying "no," than just say it. There is a lot of hype for you guys, that is why everyone is persistent. A-Crew just wants to add to the video with some legitimate stuff... take it as a compliment.

It isn't 40 minutes long, I don't think, more like 25 minutes maximum from what I've heard.

How many people would go if they premiered it MPLS?
 
We've been working our asses off lately on the movie so we haven't been posting anywhere, but there is a really good discussion going on here and I'll post back later.
 
1. ski movies dont come out until the fall, dont worry, ours will make it by then

2. our movie has always been mostly urban, and this year we filmed some tree skiing and park and some jumps even too

3. i dont know why we need to be in their video, we have always made videos by ourself, if we were to make the MN movie, and it had that name, and i was able to edit some, and so was dave b, and horner, then i would be down with sharing footage but since it isnt everyone like we always wanted im gonn have to say no

 
im going to be skiing in minnesota a bit next season and it would be fun to ski with you guys but i don't know if i have to be "in a crew" or something. but im just saying im excited
