I'm planning on moving to the rockies but I have not decided where as of yet. If you can give me some info on a local riders standpoint that would be awesome. How is the park at COP? How far are other resorts from calgary? Is there a good local newschool scene?

Im comparing Vancouver, Kelowna and Calgary. Whatever additional information you can give is appreicated.

I'm pretty new to the west myself, and haven't skiied too much into BC, but the park at COP is pretty good for jibbing, and Kicking Horse is the best hill I've been at so far, which is pretty close to Calgary. Plus we have hills like the Lake and Sunshine which just had pretty good seasons for snowfall from what I hear.

I think the biggest advantage to Calgary is the job market. Obviously if your old enought o chose where you are living, you are old enough to be working. Calgary has more jobs available (that are higher paying) than anywhere else in the country. More cash = more days skiing.

Cheers

thats very true about the job market, u could find a great job here, also cops park is alot of fun, good pipe good jumps and some fun rails, ur best bet would be to get a cop pass and an rcr super pass so u could ski nakiska louise fernie and kimberly and u only need to go to rcr like 12 times to pay it off, and naksika has a sick park with really flowey big jumps, and now louise just bilt theirs and its amazing, so much flow and sooo sick, plus louise is great for pow, as well as fernie and i hear they have a sick park too!

Fernie, is the best place in my mind. work at the hill and get a free RCR pass. Its easy to find lodging and there are some other part time jobs you can find in town as well. just get there before the season starts.

Kelowna would be my choice. Or Vernon. Silverstar and Big White have HUGE hills, waaay more snow and really good parks compared to Calgary. And lots of rails in the city just about as good as Calgary.

Plus Calgary is dirty.

peps who hate on the flames are fucking stupid, and i would prefer summer in kelowna over calgary, but i think i would like winter in calgary more

your out of your mind. as for living. I agree with Kelowna in the summer. Its fucken hot, its always nice weather and the girlls are fucking gorgeous. In the winter its not so nice. the place is always in a valley fog and its always dreary. Fernie rains on and off over the winter season, but its not as played of as banff and fernie gets better snow then the banff area. fernie full of travelling aussies and norwegians and they are fucken fun people. id go fernie for the winter.

If you're looking for a good yearround experience Kelowna is where to go. Hot sunny summers with lots of lakes that are great for wakeboarding and good skiing in the winter

yo dude fuck calgary, kelowna and vancouver just move to this sweet town called Trail BC.

Its super rad location and theres this giant smelting zinc refinary. The largest zinc refinary in the world. That pretty much guarantees you a job that all your friends and relatives would be proud of. Also Trail recieves mild winter weather at an elevation of only 1000 something feet. As for skiing you have Red mountain which is pretty sweet. And the United States border would be only minutes from your home. For summer recreation try swimming/drowning in the polluted columbia river.Trail is the place to be and after a while you totally get used to the smell of the cancer causing chemicals released by the refinary.

i heard they were closing the schools down there a while back cuz there weren't enough kids or something. i dunno if they actually did this, but if you move there there woulld be no anoying kids.
