I live in the country so all I can get here is 1.5Mb/s DSL, but that's all you really need to browse NS.
 
3.26 megabits according to some online speed test. My maximum download speed is usually 5-600kb/s, which is a lot better than it used to be.

It is a funny story actually. We pay for decent DSL, but we were only getting 72kb/s at the most. Recently, they put a new code into the connection box on the telephone pole and we are getting the 5-600kb/s that we pay for.

At school I pay for a 2mb connection but last year they didn't have a cap on it for half of the year. I downloaded COD4 on steam (~7gb) in like 10 minutes because I was downloading at nearly 9 megabytes a second!
 
if you have comcast, shaw, or rogers it really doesnt matter how big your download speed is because they throttle your ass once you actually start using the interview to download movies, games, etc.
