C.O.P.Callout

that's what pisses me off, COP is fucking ridiculous, they ban you for throwing a snowball on a fucking ski hill, when they slap people on the wrists for throwing punches to teenagers. I fucking am so mad at COP this year, they haven't seemed to get anything right./rant

haha im lucky it happened on one of the 2 days ive been there. cop get something right? come on now lets be serious. K some credit for their pipe and mandatory helmets thats all

Putting in a new lift DURING the winter season, wrong (not sure on the whole development but from what I can see)

Still doing the chains, wrong

Smallest sweet spot and worst landings I've ever seen for jumps for a park in a long time, wrong

your maintenance is shit, how come all the other parks don't have woups and brake bumps in takeoffs/landings but you do.

^and charging 400 for a seasons pass BAHAHA learned my lesson the last 2 years

groms always butting line and lifties with no balls(sorry lifties but seriously), wrong

^this is a piss off, to all of you who do it on a busy day, normally i wouldn't care but when theres only 1 chair and your waiting 10-20+ mins in line and you see some rat just cruise to the front after their lap. this isn't the alps get the fuck in line and bitch about the chains like everyone else unless your going to make 4.

I'll stop at that since I've only gone twice this year

Maybe ill come back and poach some burton open laps again, i hear they have their own guy who comes in and re shapes the jumps and everything

/rant?

not sure on the troll but i'll fill in the blanks where i can.

LIFT:

They have run into so many problems with that thing it's actually sad. Everything from not getting enough dirt to finish it, to the lift installers leaving on a whim and insurance companies threatening to shut down after the project was OK'd. Feel pity not frustration.

JUMPS:

Yeah the guy who shapes them at the beginning of the season is an ex-pro snowboarder but it takes a while to get those bad boy's dialed. It's impossible when your groomers are incompetent at it, so the usually end up killing whatever was a positive. I can't count the times on my hand when they would bury a box or rail last year, literally groom over it and the crew would have to dig it out.

CREW:

Maintenance, especially of the jumps is the lowest priority on the hill. You have to think about it this way: they have 6 guys who have to maintain the WHOLE hill. That's all the events, the two parks, the jump center, aerials and moguls. There's also padding and fencing that are constantly coming undone of falling over due to melting. IT SUCKS to be crew there. Especially when you DO get a chance to deal with the jumps (which most of the crew want to more than anything, they care, their bosses don't) all of you groms start bitching about closing the line down.

BURTON:

Yes, they bring in their own man to reshape the features, and then the incompetence starts again as soon as they leave.

Is it true that they spent their $8000 that was supposed to go to rails this year, on a bursted water pipe?

I can't say for sure but I do know that some of the pipe down there has been around since the cold war era and is starting to disintegrate randomly. Budgets are pretty set though, but it's not unusual, for any company, when a big money issue comes up the money usually gets pulled from a place where it's easiest to get it...in this situation possibly the park. There is no way in hell they get 8000 a year for rails. maybe 2G. All those rails from burton last year were donated/bought at a ridiculous price. And yes, I would say the management there is bad. It's more of a top down problem though, the guys' in ops are fairly solid and have been around for 20 or more years. You have to think about it this way though: If the majority of the money that COP makes is from their big events, clubs and lessons then the money should be allocated to those areas first, especially if those areas are ski jumping and moguls. This is after all the whole point of COP's existence. They aren't here to be the best park west of the Rockies.... it's all about athlete development. The lift ticket sales barely keep the lights on...of which park skiers make up like 10% of. Though with freestyle skiing getting into the Olympics there is a slim chance they might get their heads screwed on straight and start down the road of developing the best park in Canada. who knows?

Im just going to be clear on a few things. Im a snowcat driver at COP, so let me throw some knowedge down.

One: I have no idea who this "pro-boarder" is who comes and builds park at the begining of season. Wade is the manager, and he ( as well as the rest of us cat rivers...four others) builds park. Wade has done it for years and is actually pretty good at it.

Two: Pat from Planet snowparks builds the pipe/park for the burton open with our help.

Three: the lift not being up is not COP's fault. Its the contractors that were hired to build the dirt mound for the "Race pitch". Dopplemeyer is just waiting for all that dirtwork to be done so they can start work.

Honestly this is the BEST managed resort I have ever worked for. The staff are hardworking, and never stop. If you have problems just go talk to customer services instead of bitching online and not actually working to get anything done.

I was wondering if you have any creative control with what you do in the park? or do you just rip around grooming stuff, and doing what your told?

I give huge props to MLB and his crew, I'm really enjoying how the park is. The mini jump line is super fun, and the park is kept generally smooth. Unfortunately, I'm usually only able to make it at night, so everything is usually icy and scraped, on days when it's not like that, it's great. The only problem I have with the park is the people, so many kids have zero respect for the others at the hill. Stop butting in line, especially in a singles line. If it's a singles line, that does not give you permission to go in front of me and meet with your friends. Also, calling drop in does not mean you wait another 45 seconds to move. It's been pretty good for people waiting, but no one likes waiting for no one to go. Also, please watch your language in the line, it might be because I'm getting older, but I'm sick of hearing kids yell "fag" and "shit" in the line when families (or anyone for that matter) are present. COP is a family hill, not your park. And finally, to whom it concerns, I'd really like to see that wall ride at the top of bigs on that corner again :)

Hey, Like I mentioned before, I don't know who you are, but I'm going to reply to your comment about me not knowing anything as well as your act of just repeating what I said.

First off: I highly doubt that you could be a cat driver at COP and NOT know that Wade Cose is an ex-pro-snowboarder. Yes, he is also the ops manager there and besides little rebuilds throughout the year, at least last year, he did all the designing of the park. I didn't say that the design sucked, just that it took a while to dial it in. What I did say was that cat driving/grooming was incompetent. I would like to recant that statement and say that the majority of the grooming in the park is incompetent. There were three cat drivers out of the 5/6 that genuinely cared about it and only one who wasn't a first year driver. If you'd like names, if that'll prove to you I've worked at COP, PM me. I'm sure that this has improved since last year.

Yes. I had forgotten his name but I did mention that Pat came into do the reshaping for at least Burton and possibly LG. The guy is legit but does the work all himself, short of getting some snow pushed by another cat.

I'd also like to point out the fact that you literally just repeated what I said. In fact I said more, and what I said was truth. If you doubt it, go ask Wade what all of the setbacks were and I'm sure he'll confirm what I mentioned. But you don't really need that as you confirmed everything I said yourself.

I have a hard time believing that this is the BEST resort you have worked at but each to his own. I've already described the management I saw and dealt with while being there. Not once did I slander the crew on the ground level. Those guys are a legit group and work, like you said, hard and never stop. I'm not bitching online, I'm trying to help these guys get a bit on an inside look at what's going. Customer service is entirely powerless to change anything about the upper management of COP so talking to them about this would be fruitless.

If you have any other questions or statements I'd appreciate you PM'ing me directly as it is majorly immature to use a thread to slander my name and then just rehash all that I've said by putting YOUR name on it as a cat driver. Srsly? Grow up.

As far as doing what were told, we have some wiggle room. Things like takeoff angle, and suggestions/ ideas for features, but park layout is left to the higher-ups.

Sounds sweet. I'm not sure if this would fall into your line of duty then, but it would be awesome if maybe a few wall rides could get put in along the side of the rail side, and maybe a few more features into booth the top park, along beside the top of the pipe, and down at the bottom. Im not sure if that would leave room for the cats, or the logistics of all that, but if the opportunity arouse for you tot do that, It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.Jay.

There were two people who got punched that day, me and B. Taillefer (my brother), guy was crazy as fuck.

Does he have a grey hoodie and red pants?

If so, I think he's the same aggressive douche bag I've dealt with before

Maybe, he wears an oilers jersey most days and he's kind of fat. I don't remember what colour his pants are.
