Buying Skis for Rails

I’m new here, been skiing for 10 years just got into park this season. Never touched a rail before til this year. Long story short I want skis for rails, don’t care about carving, stability, or anything else. Just purely looking for a ski to ride park features. I’m 6’1, 160 lbs. and I ski the Midwest. If this post violates any rules lmk. Thanks guys. Should add-currently ride faction prodigy 2s 177mm. They’re nice but the edges are destroyed…. Like I said never touched a rail for 10 years… decided to learn this year.

I’ve heard those are decent, are on3ps required to have pivot bindings? I’ve heard mixed opinions on pivots.

pivots are overhyped as long as you have a binding that will withstand your size it shouldn’t matter

May get some hate for this but look at an edge-less ski. You don’t have to worry about edge cracks and you can add p-tex to any base/edge damage. You won’t be able to turn or carve but you said that doesn’t matter. When the temperature is above 40 and I am lapping a tow rope, I am using my edgeless skis. They have been going strong for 3+ seasons of hard rail riding.

Okay yeah I might be looking for something edgeless. Lapping rails with a tow rope is exactly what I’m into. Any recommendations on edgeless skis?

Edgeless skis are even more flexible than the most flexible traditional park skis, would not recommend unless you’re pretty advanced in the park already. Since you’re 6’1 i’d also advise you get skis AT LEAST 180 cm in length. Get literally any brand and model park ski you want, just remember some are more durable than others. Most rail skiers prefer skis on the softer side as well.

More durable:

- ON3P

- Icelantic

- Moment

- Vishnu (intensely debatable)

Less durable for the most part

- Line

- K2

- Armada (Not sure if their new sidewalls are any better than the ones that blew out all the time the past few years)

- Faction

- Surface

All Im saying is my surfaces lasted for 2 seasons and my on3ps have 3 edge cracks already after 5 days of riding
