Buying a car (help)

So I have never owned my own car and have always driven my parents, but I moved to utah and want to have my own car out there. I need to get a car that is good in the snow and has four wheel drive. When I got home from school and started looking at cars I was thinking that a Subaru might be the best, but I went to a deal ship with my dad and test drove some SUVs got me thinking. I would like yours opinion because I am having trouble deciding what type of whip I should purchase. Here are links to cars I have test driven.

2006 jeep commander

Would be real good in the snow and for doing all of the granola activities that are possible around salt lake, but gas prices might fuck me. still ballin car though

2004 nissan xterra

Little less ballin than the commander but might be a better snow/camping/outdoor activities car.

I drove an impreza similar to this one, i just couldnt find a link to the one i drove.

I would like a wrx but havent been able to find a good one in my price range

I have an 04 xterra and it's great in snow, drove it an hour up and back to the mountain over 60 days this season with no problems.

Yeah I really liked the over all feel of the xterra but the one i drove seemed to be a little rough around the edges for how much it was.

get the xterra- commanders are weaksauce dodge durangos with a different body- no hate on jeeps thou- parents own a jacked 4 door wrangler- shit is ridiculous- buy a used 4 door wrangler- best descision

xterra all the way. motortrends suv of the year for years and years and theyll hold up in anything and never fail. commanders are shit nowadays anyways.

commanders are for soccer moms, but yet still allows the husband who relinquished his wish for the srt-8 jeep to still keep his manhood.

try and find an audi A4 wagon with the 1.8 turbo, people say that they're expensive to fix, but it's a VW engine. avoid the 3.0 v6, it's actually expensive to fix.

if not a VW passat 4motion wagon would be good.

Obviously with my NEW SUV! thread I'm going to say XTerra. Mine is obviously a lot newer than an 04' but I have never heard anything bad about XTerras and I love mine. Plus, you will be able to do tons of mods to it if you want.

how much are you trying to spend?

heres what i think you should get.

~99 dodge 2500, with the 12 VALVE cummins, because you can't afford to fix the 24 valve, 4wd.

it will go absolutely anywhere. no exaggeration we've driven through about a foot of fresh, right on past all the jeeps and stuff that were stuck on the way up to the hill.

HAHA very well put! So true too (If I were to have kids and a wife right now, I would refuse a mini van and go for this for my wife)

When I was car shopping last fall I thought the exact same thing about the xterra. And I didn't really like that it was kind cramped inside. Then I test drove a Pathfinder to compare and I fell in love. Bought one a few weeks later. I know you haven't said anything about Pathfinders so I'm not sure if you're interested in one or not but it might be worth taking a look at if you liked the xterra for the most part...

here's mine:https://www.newschoolers.com/web/content/pictures/id/302365/member_id/111987/
