And i have the TC and i find this very playful so top that

ON3P Caylor or Jeffery for sure! Depending on the width you're looking for.

Caylor is 120 in the waist

Jeffery is 110 in the waist

ON3p skis are generally a lot stiffer. I definitely would not call the Caylor a playful ski due to it's really stiff flex. Not to say it's not a fun ski, just not super buttery and playful. They jeffery is softer but still, imo, not a buttery and playful ski in the traditional meaning. Again, this does not mean the jeffery isn't a fun ski, it's just not super buttery. Newschoolers has a tendency to recommend ON3P blindly to almost everyone so I would take that bias into account when choosing. Now if you are looking for something buttery, I would recommend the opus firstly because it, imo, has the perfect flex in that it's soft enough to butter everything but stiff enough to handle crud. The JJ is another awesome ski that is still softer than both of the ON3P's but stiffer than the opus. The JJ is a little less buttery than the opus but as a result will perform better in harder snow. You could also look at something like the 4FRNT YLE or the Salomon Rocker 122. I love ON3P's skis but they honestly don't sound like what you're looking for.

not a ski for doing tricks and buttering, unless you want to be going forward the whole time.

Atomic BentChetler, very buttery and fun to ride. And it will keep you floating in the deepest powder.

The answer is the Line Opus. Definitely more playful and buttery than any of those.

JJs have a -5 mounting point and ski horribly when you move more than 2cm away from it, pretty directional ski really.

Rocker 22s are Salomon and that does not bode well for the edges staying attached if you ski rails. They aren't that soft either, at least not initially.

On3p Caylors are a possibility but they will be significantly stiffer than the Opus. I'd go for these if you are set on those three but...

Line basically make the most buttery surfy skis. From the EP Pro, Opus, all the Bacons, Lizzie, Blend, Anthem, Afterbang... all their jib skis are basically just for playing on. They definitely aren't for everyone but if you want to play, they are the go to.

JJs ski like utter shit at centre, really really terrible. Opus are more symmetrical than any of those three.

For a fat pow ski, don't center mount it unless it is supposed to be there. Of all the skis out, the Bentchetler, the Opus, 4frnt YLE, and the Caylor are probably the most jib oriented pow skis. Add the Surface New Lifes to that list as well.

New Lifes are stiff as hell, this years Bentchetler is also a little stiffer too. The opus is quite soft. The caylor, never felt it, but people say its a stiffer pow jib ski. For what you want, the opus or YLE would probably suit you the best. Mount either of those at recommended and I feel that you'd be happy.

Moment Ghost Chants sound like a possibility. They might be a little wide tough at 124.But they are completely symmetrical.

Atomic Bent Chetler! I would say this ski has perfect amount of rocker and camber for the deepest days and I even skied mine yesterday on a crusty icy day and they held up. very buttery and playful and pops off of everything. next in line i would say pollards OPUS

Fat-ypus L-Toro.

That's what Ive been on. It has a little bit of early rise in both tip and tail. Its pretty fat too. The ski is super playful, poppy, and really durable. I've been having a blast on these skis in the park

My cousin loves his opus's they're defiantly soft and buttery... But the sfb is just so good in everything it's not even fair! Pure pow ski if you e got something else might as well go opus. Chetlers seem moderately buttery .. Ibe never skied them but benchetler makes them look playfull haha

In order of playfulness Opus, Chetler, Caylor/Rocker22, JJ.

If you really want a ski softer and more playful than the TC I would go for Line Blends though, narrower but they are the most buttery ski i've ever been on.

Unless they've made them softer, my 09 Blends feel stiffer, less playful and less nimble then the Opus. Not by a lot, but enough to retire them for the season...

The 09s weren't even rockered, the new ones are both softer and rockered than the ones you have.

I didn't realize the definition of "playful" meant a soft buttery ski. If you're looking for a noodle then you're right that both of my suggestions are not the right ski.

The Jeffery and Caylor may be on the stiffer end of flex pattern/stiffness, but to me they are super poppy and responsive which to me is a fun, "playful", hit anything on the mountain ski. They both crush every type of snow you would ever want to ski them in.

i'd say afterbangs are your best option... super buttery and playful, they float in the deepest of powder too, i guess its cuz they are super thick skis

I think most people probably consider a ski "playful" if it's both buttery and poppy but I guess it's sort of subjective. When I skied the caylor, I really didn't enjoy trying to butter it a lot but I still thought it was a fun ski, just not what I would consider playful.

Fair enough. I guess its just a difference of definition. I just wanted to make it clear I wasn't just blindly suggesting the Caylor and Jeffery for the sake of liking ON3P as a company. I have skied them both and honestly feel like they are both great options for an all around poppy fun playful ski.

fat, rockered, playful, buttery ski?

How in the hell hasn't the Hellbent been brought up? I have more fun riding mine in any condition than any other ski I own.

stiff ski =/= playful. At low speeds you can't noseblock, butter around, press little quarter pipe stuff, nollie lip off of flat (a real nollie, not a damn tip dive) with stiff skis, unless you're a pretty big fella. if you're idea of playful is doing everything at 30mph, well, i guess you have a different definition of playful.

listen to me!!

I was looking for a ski just like you described, i was dead set on a soft, big rocker, flat underfoot wide ski, hellbents were at the top of my list for that, ive skiied them before and they are definitely playful.

I recently found surface one lifes for pretty cheap in 179 and decided to give them a try, even though they are stiff, have camber underfoot, they at least had big rocker, and every review i read said they were very poppy and playful. so ive had a couple days on them so far and they are awesome, ive skiied bacons, hellbents, ep pro's, opus's, jj's, and kung fujas's. and these are probably my favorite, the ep's and hellbents are close.

you can tail butter like crazy, the abrupt big rocker lets you sit on the tails and flex em just enough, you can literally butter for miles, and pop out of butters big too, like land a rail in a tail butter and pop a 180, ride up to a rail in a butter and pop big onto handrails, and press down the whole thing. which is another thing they are amazing at, they can do presses like crazy. nose butters are a little tougher, but mostly just take getting used to, you kinda have to hop into them more.

in powder and crud they are super super stable and poppy, you can pop off anything. the charge hard, then the big rocker lets you slash pivot and slide around at any speed. good for landing off big cliffs. obviously have no problem floating, and one of the best things is how you can charge into stuff at speed, and ride like a butterey slashey thing on the tails, super fun on rollers.

it does so many things it shouldnt, its stiff and super stable, but super buttery and playful, big rocker but awesome on big park jumps and carving. wide but awesome on rails and its light. not much sidecut but crazy nimble and slashy. its a 112 waist powder ski but skis park better than some park skis.

you should definitely take a look at those, coming from someone who's skiied a lot of stuff, they are highly reccomended, cant go wrong with hellbents either. just wish they were a tad skinnier tho.

^yes. I have one lifes and they are stiff but they are playful, I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for but hellbents are another good choice, maybe bentchetlers, I think Opus's would be the best fit based on your description, if you aren't opposed to buying used skis, my real recommendation would be to find a pair of EP pros or Lizzies. Nothing will beat these 2 skis in the fat, rocker, playful, department.
