Butters

Do people actually butter any more on to rails? After watching slvsh cup, I’m even more convinced butters have been turned into Tokyo drifts.

Hugo vs Quan slvsh Quinn comes to a full stop on his nb 6 on it was crazy. Some refs literally have no idea that a nosebutter has to be pressed. Ski culture is so trippy when it comes to tricks, like how tf is a rodeo 3 called a flat 3 when its not even flat but the same axis to 540 IS a rodeo. And ppl call sw ollie as being off the noses, like bro if you do a sw nosepress, its off the noses not the tails, how tf u gonna call a sw ollie as being off the noses.

It bothers me hella when they let something slide that's obviously not a pressed butter

idk, your logic is valid but I still think sw ollie is off the noses, sw nollie is off the tails

You can get rodeo 5s flatter that flat 3s too. It’s never made sense to me

this was the only bad part of slvsh for me this year (other than the safety slide thing), i’m not saying i can do it any better but like these guys are pro, i wanna see some cooler butters!

flexing (lol) this sw tb 4 I did this season. I was just shuffling them for a while but really tried emphasizing the butter

Some people are way too good, that’s a real butter right there.

to answer your question, the reason butters are more like Tokyo drifts now is because park skis have gotten stiffer now, and doing a proper butter is dependent on the type of ski you have. Most of the pros and SLVSH guys you see are using stiff competition park skis that make it almost impossible to butter onto rails without having a ton of speed, which they can’t get in that park setup because there’s not enough room to get speed

idk about this. Poachers are by no means soft skis and look what joona kangas can do on them.

this seems wrong lol pros can def butter stiff skis. ive learned butter to be more technique dependent than ski dependent as long as youre on a general "park ski"

Whhhhat! His nose butters into rails are usually up on the tips man!

I mean yeah, he is one of the few people who actually can actually butter onto rails. He doesn't always do it tho, I'm just saying like in SLVSH and some comp runs he also has definitely reverted and not buttered onto features or off jumps. Not as heinous as other dudes at all cuz he still at leans into them even when his skis don't flex

Lmao the Midwest rope skier in me just can’t but maybe I’ll try again at some point. Im tryna work on less arm flailing in general too

personally I would say the Tokyo style butter slides as long as the rider is obviously putting weight on the noses. doing a butter up a lip requires a lot of precision, as well as the fact that the butter has to be done faster. that being said, the more truly buttered it is the better and always makes for a better clip
