Most people don't know their rights when dealing with the police. This isn't about carrying drugs in your car, its about not being harassed by the police. The reason those rights are upheld in America is that the founding fathers did not want the government or any of its agents abusing power.
I don't know how it is in Canada, but remember that in the US the people are (or at least were) in control of the government and not vice versa.
Before the US came into existence the British could issue general warrants for example where they could come to your house with a warrant to search. Except the warrant would not specify what or who they were looking for/arresting. You can see the problem with this can't you? As a result American warrants have to be specific. The whole point of the Constitution of the US is to define what powers the government has with the purpose of LIMITING Government. Although the United States has many problems, at least we have these basic protections built into our system, which even most government agents are cautious to break.
Insinuating that this is just about drugs is idiotic.
So with all due respect, SHUT THE FUCK UP.
