Burton rail jam NYC

yo this year skiers got to represent in this thing. last year only one skier showed up. and he wasnt very good and he kept falling and the boarders kept laughing at him and giving him shit. this year everyone in the new york are needss to get their asses into the city and do this jam and show the sstupid cocky snowboarders up

I accidently bumped into this rail jam last year and it was embarassing!!! Like the other dude said only one skier and he was really bad. Now I give anyone credit for trying anything but if you are the only skier representing make sure that you've tried rails before you try and ride them in front of a large audience, it made skiing look really dorky the guy didn't even get close to getting o the rails.

(my threads)

i'd like to go to. if it's on the weekend i could try to catch a train, and if i get my sweet laroses mounted with my even sweeter markers, maybe i'd even participate. doubt it though because i'd embarress myself.

ahhh. that would be amazing to have it be on a weekend that i dont have hockey. i would drive from DC to go, especially if it were in like the heart of NYC and have a city jib

Sweet man, how the hell did you find that in a husky whatever webpage? anyways thanks, its good to know the date.

Here is a video of last years on You Tube, the video sucks, the snowboarders suck and the set up sucks, so maybe this years will be better.

fuck man i wanna go soo damn bad. theres never any jams where i live though and my parents would obviously refuse to drive me to new york.

yeah id go but i dont have money to pay for the train and id prolly make skiers look bad

ha from that video it looked like no one was really having any fun lol. we gotta get so more people to go and throw down. i've never even hit a rail before but i'd be willing to risk my body for a few hours just to try.

no one even like tried to spin (probably lack of speed) but hopefully if they actually have it this year it will be set up a little better.

i e-mailed burton to ask if they were still having it and if skiers could go, but there was no response.

that link is good though.

ok welll now that the info is all up and shit, us skiers must rep it there. im sure we can put together some good talent, and even if you're not that great then whatever, still come just so we can show that skiing exists in the park to retard new yorkers who dont knwo shit.

i also gotta find a way to get from penn station to central park. i don't really wanna take a taxi, and idk if skis would fit in the car. walking is an option, but pretty much a huge hassle walking numerous blocks through the city with skis and boots on my back.

Its says Feb 5th but that has to be a mistake. But it is sponsored by burton, which is cool.

well i gotta buy a helmet if i do get to go, and does anyone know if a minor is under 16 or under 18? cause that would suck if my mom had to come cause she would never do it.

Hey, I got an email today from the rail jam guy, Its looks like its going to be legit this year. So sign up and be there, its going to be fun. here is what he said:

Dear Snowboarders/Freestyle Skiers,

Thanks for taking the time to sign up online! Thanks to Rich R. for pointing out an error in the auto-reply that went to some of you: the Central Park WinterJam AM portion in Central Park is on February 10 from 12pm - 4pm (get there earlier than 12pm, as we may open earlier due to the great response). Have your friends sign up too - but please have them use a unique email address (M. Hind this means you). It's a computer thing.

UPDATES AND CLARIFICATIONS:

1. SuperparX is on for the event, and will be managing the rails. Their most recent/similar event on the East Coast was the Queens City Rail Jam. You can see this here on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3L5kU9d28A . C-box, Tank, heheheh...

2. NYC Rail Jam 2006 on YouTube: Some video wizard posted to You Tube the 2006 event. 2007's will be a merging of the above with what was done last year here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNhy6r9g2YY. See yourself up there? Check the promo video, looping soon in Burton SoHo's store. You in this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUisxoDndz4.

3. The pro-side: Check out the PRO side, WinterJams' sister event on February 8th in Union Square Park, the Union Square Street Sessions. A lot of you have been asking for inclusion in this as well. This is booked with a cap, unfortunately. It will be a really great spectacle to enjoy regardless, and to amp you up for Saturday's event.

4. Secret - what's Jibbs have to do with the Central Park WinterJam? He'll be performing, that's what...

21 Days Later,

Rory

sounds sick, i hope it is. i really really wanna go, but i still don't know if i'll be able to.

is there like a format or anything, or is it just line up and go. it seems as if there's gonna be tons of snowboarders so i have a feeling there would be a lot of waiting and barely any hits.

also, if i sign up, can i like not go. i wanna sign up to have a spot if i can, but i still don't know if i can make it

ok well since they'res more comitted people now, we should all try to meet up before the jam soemwhere so us skiers can go in together. they'res gonna be a ton of snowboarders there and its gonna be outnumbering. so yeah if you haven't already then sign up now.

Good idea... We can all practice walking in step and we can also get some theme music to play for us as we walk up to the event.
