Bump skiing tips?

I want to get better at ripping bumps. Does anyone know of any good videos or write-ups I could check out to get some pointers on technique? Or have pointers themselves?

From what I've picked up

-looking ahead is most important. You wanna be looking 3 or more moguls ahead of where you are. If you can visualize your line before you ski it you will be able to ski it better

-pole plant on top of the mogul. You can pivot around it, or just use it to control your turns.

-always stay in control and make sure to always keep your flow up.

-also a fun thing to do is jump and double moguls while your skiing your line. Be ready though because it makes you pick up alot of speed

These are just things that I focus on, I'm sure there are plenty of other tips other NSers could give. Moguls are very fun and a great way to improve your feel for the snow. Cheers!

I only bother with moguls if the snow is soft. I basically just skid turn into a mogul and absorb the impact, thus slowing me down. I can’t do moguls very fast like those people who just rip them, but I enjoy them a lot, especially after a powdee day

Not sure how to do moguls "right", but I have found my way of having fun on them... I always have a better time going through moguls when I've got decent speed, once I stop all the momentum and flow goes away. I like to stay in the fall line and bounce off the tops of each bump. If I get late and into a rut, I will usually do a jump turn off a bump, so I can charge into the next set.

The key is to really focus on tip initiation. Just watch some videos of FIS mogul competitions their tips are always in contact with the snow the moment they crest the mogul, this helps them maintain control and be prepared to initiate the next turn.

Classic NS responses above

1. try to focus

2. always stay in control

3. go with the flow

Yeah, great advice guys....that's what OPs been doing wrong, he's not been going with the flow... ffs

Just get a lesson from an instructor? I know lessons are costly but they're great investments. You improve infinitely faster with a professional that you will watching videos or from reading forums

Shock absorption with your legs while keeping your upper body centered is key. You will hear the term “backwards bicycle pedalling” and that’s what it looks like on your feet are properly absorbing the shocks and turning in the bumps.

Lots of Jonny Moseley videos that show proper technique and some tips.

A very important part of it is making sure you are not in the backseat which means leaning forward. And make sure that you feet are around hip distance apart. Make sure you absorb the bumps. And don’t take it too seriously, have some fun and jump around on top of the moguls.

Go to Youtube and watch Chuck Martin's Mogul Logic tutorials. Also can you make short turns on groomers? If you can't do it on groomers, how do you think all of a sudden you're gonna be able to do it in a 3D situation? So what i'm saying is work on short turns.
