Bump button?

I was just over on the bustedspoke.com forums, and I realized that they have something that you click and it automatically bumps your thread.

I think this would be really helpful in keeping clutter out of threads because you wouldn't have to post to bump it. It probably wouldn't be that hard to code either.

Just a thought.
 
i second this motion, not a day goes by where i see a thread that has two and half pages of "bumps" its really really pathedic.

It will only work if the amount of times you can bump is limited to like three a day, because i saw a thread yesterday where the jackass bumped his thread 8 times in a period of 6 hours, SO FUCKING STUPID, so yeah, as long as its limited, its a good idea
 
Yea, I hate when I open up a 2 page thread and 90% of it is bump.

The one problem with limiting it though is in b/s/t, your post is off the first page in like 2 hours on a busy night.
 
No, that's the issue, constant bumping IS stupid and pathetic. A thread with eight bumps without any responses is easily identifiable as a bad thread. Even the OP usually realizes that nobody cares about his thread after a while, and he realizes that the constant bumping is making him look like an idiot, so he eventually stops. The only thing a bump button would do is make it so that bad threads aren't easily identifiable and allow the OP to keep bumping his thread for days without looking pathetic.
 
i can only see this being helpful in b/s/t. in any of the other forums if a thread is important enough to stay on the first page, then it doesn't need any bumping. this would get terribly abused.
 
Yea that's true. Maybe this should only be an option in b/s/t then? and maybe gear talk? It might be helpful when trying to find answers in gear talk or Media & Arts.

Then you might as well not have the button at all. Seeing a long line of bumps in a thread is a good notification that it sucks
 
i think it would be a good idea if you make it so it can only be bumped if its off the first page, and have a limit, so people cant just abuse the shit out of it and have their shitty threads at the top for 4 days
 
I'd think the button would look best as a mustache. And have a week limit from previous bump. Just me thinking..I try not to do so often.
