Bumming at ALTA or TELLURIDE?

I spent the last 2 years checking tickets at telluride. This year I just got a job to be a lifty at Alta but idk if I'm gonna take it. I don't have a job right now at Telluride but I have a lot of connections so I'm sure I could find something if I looked. But I'm so torn up on what to choose. Telluride gets shitty snow and Alta gets dumped on but all my friends are in Telluride.

So how does Alta compare to Telluride?? I really don't wanna miss out on all that powder. Damn idk what to do. Anyone bummed at Alta before? how is it?

There is definitely more going on in slc than telluride, you can get up in the mountains during the day and still go downtown at night. Never looked into housing at either one so I can't comment there. While they don't quite have the same terrain, I prefer the vibe at the resorts one canyon over.

Why do you say that Telluride gets shitty snow? Every time I have gone there the snow has been great. I also really like the hoot brown park. There might be less of a night scene in Telluride, but I kinda like it that way. There are usually minimal lift lines even on powder days and there is still enough to do in the town and mountain village.

You would probably be a lot happier with your friends in telluride. pow is great, but its hard to truly enjoy without the company of good buddies.

plus although they have to be taken with a grain of salt, all the long range predictions i have seen are forecasting a snowy winter in the southern rockies this year….

as an east coast skier, i have to disagree with you on your opinion about telluride's snow, haha. not to mention, it's a nice town, good vibe, not crowded, and if your friends are there i say go for it. no fun in skiing alone.

I don't know so much about Telluride, but I live in SLC and used to ski Alta a lot. I've heard some bad stories about management at Alta before (one of my friends got fired mid season because some important due's niece wanted the job). We get lots of good snow out here for sure, I don't know that snow conditions are better though. You might just be thinking that grass is greener on the other side of the rockies. Maybe it seems like it's way better snow in Utah because of USSA's legendary hype machine? I'm sure an awesome season could be had in both places.

One gets twice as much snow as the other.

While telluride is sweet and the town is truly one of a kind if you're going to ski and ski pow it's a now brainer.

Yeah 290" a year might be sweet for an east coaster but for someone really wanting pow it's kind of a joke. Not to mention the San Juans are deathly terrifying in the BC compared to to the wasatch.

Really? No way?...

Really what? OP asked for opinions on Alta and Telluride. I gave him mine.

Why do you always post stupid stuff in response to my posts? If you have a problem with me, tell me. All of these passive jabs make you look retarded. Until you're mature enough to handle your problems like an adult, fuck off.

make the move. don't be a bitch. try something new. you'll like it. snowpack depth and stability are the first two reasons... lots of fun people live in Utah, and you can always go back and visit Telluride (or better yet get your friends to visit your new digs).
