Building your own skis

Honestly, probably a lot more than you think. I know that both Fauna and Misfit have done at home projects. Maybe they have some insight

In 2014 when I built my first pair I paid $1250 for mold and ski materials, cnc machining cores, bases & mold and a vacuum pump. This was Europe though so maybe cost for elsewhere were less at the time.

I’d expect it to cost more than that now but there are cheaper ways of doing some things, like you don’t need to use a cnc to do the cores and base if you’re good with a router.

I was thinking about building my own I've made homemade bows and if I can find a nice piece of ash to hack down I can custom my flex and shape as long as it's a good stick I shouldn't have hinge points

Few dollars tops. Simply purchase a pair of 2x4's from your hardware store of choice (189cm length or longer obviously) and sand them down to your desired shape.

If you want to be the coolest kid on the mountain, find the most warped examples in the store, so you can be swerve af with your full rocker and zero effective edge. If they're still not banana enough for you, soak or steam the wood to soften it and bend it to your desired level of steeze.
