Building Kickers

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on builing kickers. Whenever me and my friends try it, it never works. whats the secret?

shoves lots of them, what we do is try to find a flat spot with good in run and big landing, than build a huge pile of snow until i cant do it any more, its worth the work. than just try to pack it and shape it as well as you can i like lots of lip on the jump so i dig out the inrun a bit to make it taller. it should take an hour or so with 4 guys, or im just a pussy i dont know, haha

I love cheetos!!

an hour!!!!!!!!!!? shit man, i can make a kicker in like 30 mins by myself, and a descent one at that, what kinda shovels are you using? liek those minature kids ones? yes piling as much snow as possible is key, but pack it down in stages it will turn out better, and last longer. riding up and down the lip usually helps pack it down good.

What the hell were they doing with a car on the moon?... havent they gone far enough?

its all about the salt my niggas

THE SPRINKLER: get butt naked and then do a 1260 while taking a piss, i expect this trick to win many comps this coming season.

Andy Mahre kickers = poop on a stick

Use everyone's skis and stick them in the ground where you want the lip to be, then just shovel snow up against them, when you want to shape the sides better, move the skis to the desired side and shovel more snow up against those...thats how they look so pretty and symmetrical in the movies.

Using skis as supports is one of the secrets but if you have dry snow, the real trick is in cutting blocks. You ought to scapre away all the fluffy cover snow and get to the nice compact stuff underneath, use your shovel to cut nice big blocks out of the precompacted snow. This way your jump doesn't take as long to pack down and gets better shape. You don't get sand snow this way either.

If you building a jump in your back yard it is always good to build the base of the jump out of wood. this makes you have to do alot less shoveling and you can re-use it in the years to come

yeah snowboards do work better.

yea snowboards work better, and packing down in steps, put skis at the end, get a good pile of snow pack down, repeat until it is desired height, get people to their pile bodies on the sides and the roll on it and alk up it with skis, anything to pack it down shoveling part off the jump out of the ground and using that snow for the lip als o helps

(trust me, the '' things aren't actually there)

yea we used to lots but the romance has sorta died down ya know? He is just sticking with me so he can hit my booters, plus i think he is cheating on me, and if that isnt bad enough it is with a GIRL!!!!

its all about location. find a good 4' wind lip and all you will have to do is give it a lip. It only takes like 30 mins and then you can just bomb it out and spend the rest of the day throwing your new tricks of some fat cliffs and ripping up the mad lines at like 60 mph. unless you live in the east and then you might as well stick to your bombed out kicker

the best way to not go crazy now before ski season is to go build jumps out of dirt, rocks, bushes, hay bales, and/or wood. make em good so all you have to do is shape em a little once the snow falls.

I don't know if anyones said this, but I'm to lazy to read this whole post, so here it goes.

Me and my friend usually build ours by finding a place with a good steep landing, and then after we have piled up a bunch of snow and given the jump some shape someone side steps up it to pack it down, then i usually just shape it up and have my little brother hit it so if it sux he's the one who bails.

put it on a tranny, dont make the angle to drastic so it will kick you backseat, stomp on it like a mothefucker and hit it. it falls apart really quick if the snow is dry so bring salt or let it sit.

'powder before pussy'

I don't know making jumps withg powdery snow is hard, when it is powdery we try to get crusty stuff or just ski it.

find a good spot, and pack down the bottom, and then find some sticks or logs or something if you can, and then lay them on top of the base, and then pile more snow onto it and pack it down like a muthafucka and repeat the process a lot

good boy

I always build a jump so it's huge enough to lip without a curve directly at the top,, or your rotation can get thrown off,, Make it like it's in a park ((big air jump) , only smaller..

this is a great thread- lots of info.

Do you suggest cutting down any long grass (2')before the snow flies?
