Building a winch

So I want to build a winch for this season and I had a few questions before I spend any money. The first question is: will a centrifugal clutch deliver sufficient speed for hitting jumps with at least a 15' gap or would a torque converter be nessesary? The second question I had was: what should my gear ratio be with a 7hp engine? 1:5, 1:6, or should it be lower like 1:3? Any help would be greatly appreciated (+k).
