hi, my brother works at a steel company i got the hook up on steel..... i was planning on making 2- 15' straight rails ... does any one know what kinda steel would work the best like flat stock? i like flat rails but what would be my best option on steel like a flat stock box or a solid peice of flat steel or what? I dont want my rail getting all shotty after a couple times of use. If any one has any plans like where to put the supports and how many to put that would be tite too! ... thanks

just get whatever is the hardest type of steel i think that cold rolled is best like he said but talk to the guy at the steel company, the harder the better (thats what she said) so your edges dont catch and the elements dont fuck up the rail

You can always make one out of PVC it works great, and its cheap. I just recently made one with my friends... Its awesome!!! Try it for yourself.

Thanks fellers...........! oh yea do i make the bottom of the rail i mean under the supports so i sticks and burys into the snow good.......

Yeah i agree if you have steel available go with that... just throwing out ideas here if you want a fairly decent rail for cheap try looking into PVC

for the base you can either make saw horse like stands if you want to move it around or you can just use spikes to keep it in one general place

for stands: weld a vertical tube down from the rail, then take a piece of sheetmetal (rather thick) and weld a bigger diameter tube under 90° on the sheetmetal. for use: put down the sheetmetal with the tube and insert your rail and for transport: take it apart and you have a very clean rail to transport...
