Building a jump in a graveyard-morally wrong?

So, at my school, there's this graveyard on a decently steep hill (for Connecticut.) At the bottom of the hill, there's this man-made canal about 15 feet wide. We're thinking of building a jump right before the edge of the canal so we could gap it. Wouldn't be too big of a jump, but we might be able to throw a 5, possibly a front-flip if we're lucky.
However, a couple of our other friends think its disrespectful to build a jump in a graveyard. Our retaliation is that we're not doing any harm to the graves or the land-we're just moving snow around.
Any thoughts?

there was a thread like this talking about that pic of jf cusson hand dragging a gravestone and some people got real mad. i personally think its fine but some people might not

My mom is friends with a graveyard caretaker/ commissioner and he actually suggested that I build a jump in "his" graveyard

id say as long as you dont ride over any graves or too close to any tombstones theres no harm done. old people visiting will give you shit probably though

Yea my friends brother pissed on a grave while drunk and now theirs a ghost living in his house, its like makes loud noises and he was sleeping in the basement and its dragged him around in circles

I would do it. Dead people are buried there. They're dead, so what.

I worked in a graveyard for a summer and that just made me realize that it's only a public park with some stones sticking out of the ground. No big deal.

That being said, I am not in any way religious, and I don't believe in ghosts, spirits or god. I guess it's up to you.

not a fan.. i remember seeing the JF cusson shot in issue 1 of that NS mag thing and i thought it was kinda whack

respect the dead

I don't think it is morally wrong at all. Unless you are wrecking tombstones or disturbing people coming to visit. The dead people don't care, just respect the families I guess.

naw defs not going to be knocking over any tombstones, and there aren't going to be any families visiting seeing as there's mad snow everywhere

Respect the deceased.

Alot of visitors will give you shit and i dont think it would be worth all the trouble, but good luck with your front flip!

i dont think theres a problem as long as you ski in between stones, definately not in front of them though. i never walk in front of them, let alone ski. but its really up to the caretaker or whatever of the site

My advice is to build a big jump so you know youll clear it each time. I would build a landing on the other side.

Jibbing gravestones is kind of un-kosher though so don't do that.

maybe if jf cusson was hand dragging his dead grandfather's grave or something it would actually make the photo cooler and provide some meaning... however i think that hand dragging a random grave is disrespectful

I'd be less concerned about the morality of it and think more about how the cops would feel about it. I have a feeling they wouldn't like it. That's my three cents.

I wouldn't do it, just because you know whoever sees it is going to go out of their way to complain. Because that's how people are, most look for any excuse they can to go bitch about shit.

Even if you were completely off in the corner away from any graves someone would cry and complain. that's just my experience.

i got some decent longboard footage in the fall in my local grave yard. but thats on the paved road away from any tomb stones and graves

I would do it, but is true, if you can do it when nobody is around, nice, if not, people will give you shit.

Do it. Dead people are dead. Just because you're riding in a place they're buried doesn't meant you're disrespecting them. Please get a video of it though.

Think about it this way how would you feel if it were your Grandparents going to visit a loved ones grave there is a group of kids playing around, being loud, and cussing.
The skiing alone isn't what makes it wrong it is a place to grieve not hang out and have fun. I'm sure you can find plenty of other spots to have fun and upset a lot less people and possibly stay out of trouble longer.

so, if someone were to shit on your body after you died it wouldn't be disrespectful, beause you're dead, right? that's what I'm getting from all of what you said.
