Budget AR-15 build

does anyone have any experience doing this? I'm trying to squeek out a M4 for under $700

I have been looking at del-ton rifle kit uppers for the M4 platform, which seem to retail around $450. The problem is that they are sold out across the board.

Any other companies you can suggest? I don't need quad rails or any of that shit, but I do want a flat top upper.

For the barrel and chamber I am looking for chrome plated, 1 7 or 19 twist doesn't matter to me, 16".

I think I'm gunna build the lower from a stripped lower which retails for around 120. if anyone has suggestions for this let me know.

I also realize this is probably the wrong forum to drop this question, but if anyone has experience lemme know.

target shoot primarily, I wont reach out past 100 yards often, and i'm thinking I want it chambered in 5.56 so i have the option to shoot that and .223

Good luck building it under 7 bills, colt makes an ar thats about 500 complete, buuuut it only shoots 22s.

You could go with a DPMS upper which will put you at about 400, then a rock river lower at 300. That's a solid base that will get you started, I tried the whole build it yerself plan with mine and found it didn't save me much money and you get a better fitting rifle when you don't mix match so many brands. PM me if you have any questions.

well for one theres no reason he needs that for target shooting because they are designed for full auto use...he only needs a 10 round mag tops. I also think those are illegal in most states. Annnddd they make the rifle heavy as fuck and very inaccurate...great for movies though

yea 25 is very reasonable. 30 is standard issue. the smaller the clip the less you blow through ammo lol 5.56 remmis are not cheap

I built my own with a palmeto state lower, surplus arms bbl, bcm bcg, troy alpha rail and magpul goodness for $800. But it's alot harder to find parts with the election scare.

I also suggest you check out ar15.com for suggestions. It's full of ballers and dbags just like here. You'll love it!

no, buy a kriss

Or for 700 you could get a real nice AK. Get a used arsenal or norinco. Much more reliable and chambers a superior round. 100 yrds and in and the AK will hang with an AR all day long, and it wont jam on you

Guns are fucking stupid. Sorry, but the only thing an m4 was designed to do was kill people, its ridiculous you are allowed to even buy that.

Granted, they are very fun to shoot, I can't deny that.

so after doing a lot of research, although I could find the parts for a build under 700 they were sold out everywhere. Must be the election scare, which really doesn't make sense to me.

I bought a Stag Arms M4 Mod 1 today for $860. The thing's sweet, and i'm looking forward to letting it rip tomorrow.

Also to the comment that we shouldn't be able to buy assault rifles, it took me about 10 minutes to do the paperwork to buy a mil-spec rifle. HAH

What specific event in history was directly a result of a bad decision on the gun's behalf, causing them to be 'bad'?

Gun's are object's. You don't go round saying staplers are bad.

People are fucking stupid.

Just checked out DPMS products and the stuff they are putting out looks great. Looks and sounds to be way better the mil-spec

I apologize for my harsh remark, but really, should assault weapons that can fire 800 rounds be legal and easy to purchase or build for anyone including felons and people on the terrorist watch list. I know that you will use it safely and respectfully, but is it really needed... (sorry for starting a potential shitstorm...

1) The round count is irrelevant. Any gun can fire that many rounds, its just a matter of how quickly. I will go out on a limb and say full auto guns are pointless. However, that's just my opinion. Most states dont allow legal possession of them anyways.

2) Obviously felon's cannot legally obtain firearms/parts. However - they are criminals, they clearly dont have regard for the laws. You can't change that, why penalize all the legal law abiding citizens?

3) Why don't we outlaw alcohol? It causes people to make stupid decisions that endanger my life more frequently than guns do. You can't blame the substance/object for the actions of a dumbass.

A 'budget' AR isn't going to be too much fun. Using the cheapest parts out there likely won't make a reliable one. You likely wouldn't be able to get one chambered in 5.56 either, as .223 rem is much more common and the 5.56 that I come across are more expensive.

You're best bet is a CMMG bargain bin AR off of their site. Look there.
