I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on Keystone safety patrol stoping Jonathan Buckhouse and his friends for riding “out of control”. Patrol handled the whole situation horribly. It’s so obvious that vail resorts only cares about making money off of tourists who never even skied or snowboarded and could care less about the skiers and riders who keep this sport alive. How can we get vail to listen to what real skiers have to say?

I can kinda understand where the yellow jackets are coming from. I've never been out west but I can see how they were being "dangerous" with jumping off the sides of the trail especially on the beginning trail and all that jazz, but I agree with buckhouse and how the yellow jackets handled the situation. They should have just gave a verbal warning like "hey I know you are having fun, but you could you guys tone it down a bit?"

a year or two ago i was skiing at keystone and some fucking jerry wiped out in front of me and there was one yellow jacket standing and one walking towards him and i didnt have time to turn away or shoot the gap because i wouldve hit one of them so i made a "controlled" fall so i didnt hit them and they got pissed at me not the fat jerry one of the yellow jackets told me get out of my face before i pull your pass. I fucking hate them

Its total BS that they took his pass but that dude is a jerry so fuck'm lol. A little advice for you wonderful people on here: if a yellow jacket tries to stop you and you're not easily identifiable then just blow by them and go smoke a bowl in the woods while they look for you. Keystone has thousands of people riding there every day and yellow jackets are usually old dudes that can't ski fast. We're freeskiers goddammit, since when do we care about authority? especially vail resorts authority?!

They were all clearing in control and just having fun. Yellow jacket dude was on a next level trip and is regreting stoppong a prominet YouTube snowboarder. PR nightmare for Keystone. However, they picked the busiest, easiest run at the resort that littered with Yellow Jackets do that on. Thats on Jonathan and Co. They ride there enough to understand that Schoolmarm is pretty much beginners only.

Keystone fucking sucks.
Schoolmarm used to be awesome in my early days of learning to ski, but now it's an overcrowded highway of out of control gapers and you could be in complete control going at a reasonable pace and your biggest worries will be dodging people who are out of control, and then getting stopped for doing so because you are the one going too fast despite being in control and yeilding to the out of control skiers below you. Schoolmarm is the I-70 of ski runs. When I was trying to teach my younger sister to ski we did like one run on schoolmarm and I was trying so hard to make deliberate turns while simultaneously being her spotter and bodyguard for the idiots who were completely out of control. Then I got yelled at for being out of control and told to slow down as she was doing the pizza straightline in front of me. It's like if you are carving, then you are too fast and out of control in the eyes of those yellow jacket fuckers.
The last time I skied Keystone I was like 16 and we were night skiing and Schoolmarm was empty so my dad and I went as fast as we could down it. We got to the bottom and once we got that satisfaction we pretty much decided we never needed to ski at that shithole again.

I was pretty impressed how cautious that whole crew was. Yeah, side hits in a slow zone will always draw the ire of mountain safety but they were stopping and checking uphill each jump while someone in the crew stood above the landing. If anything, this video should be an example to other advanced skiers and snowboarders how to conduct themselves in slow zones and still have a bit of fun. The Mountain Safety people essentially just profile people.
Also, the class they are required to go to is ridiculous. It is mostly about people ducking ropes, getting lost or caught in an avalanche, and dying.
To everyone in Summit talking shit about Vail Resorts: yeah they totally suck. If this makes you mad, get a pass to A Basin where there is no mountain safety and do whatever you want.

I know a former yellow jacket supervisor. Is he my friend, hell no. They DO indeed receive $$$ when they write tickets. So that says it all. However, if a yellow jacket is posted up on a trail, they are NOT allowed to chase. They are only allowed to chase you if they are not posted up and happen to see you

It'll be interesting to see how they will try and scrub this from the internet or pressure Youtube into doing something. If I'm not mistaken, Vail does a pretty good job at having a department dedicated to everything and anything social media and policing how theyre being spoken about on it, like every major corporation.

This'll rustle some jim jams, but unless you're 8 years old, 88 years old, or fresh from texas/california for you annual ski trip, you have no business on schoolmarm. Yellowjacket speed nazis will win every time
Yellow jackets aee generally douches, but people put themselves in situations with them all the time then act surprised when things go down. It blows to get caught up in a situation with them but most times it's people doing something obvious then being like "dude we weren't even doing anything".
Who knew some random youtube dude that snowboards would be popular enough for 3 threads.
