Broken Wrist Problems

So I recently broke my wrist skiing (I know, stupid move). I am scheduled to get a hard cast in a few days once the swelling goes down, and I was stoked to get back on skis. That was up until my mom told me she wasn't going to allow me to go to the mountain with my cast. I've looked around on Newschoolers, and have had friends ski with casts, so I don't know why she's making such a big deal of this. I really don't want to miss out on six to eight weeks of skiing.

Has anyone else ever had a similar issue? Have you been able to get out of it? If so, please help me out.

Sparknotes:

Mom won't let me ski with a hard cast on my wrist. Anyway to get out of it?

It's a hard sell to a parent thats footing your bills

I fucked up my hand when I was 16 at the start of the season. I convinced my parents I was just going out to ski and not hit park features. Which I pretty much did.

I only hit features I knew I wasn't going to eat shit on and didn't really learn new tricks. Spent some time filming and soul skiing, always refreshing to change your perspective on the hill. Once a few weeks passed it was like nothing happened.

You should let that heal for at least 2-3 weeks though, falling on an injury is shitty and it just add's time to you not being able to get out.

I had a broken thumb and put a hard cast on it. It was totally fine to ski with. The only issue was keeping it warm. I just put a huge wool sock over my hand and skied around like that.

When I went to get my hard cast I had the Dr mold it to my pole grip. If he has no problem doing that for me, I'm sure the Dr can tell your parents that it is not an issue. The hard part was finding a glove that fit over the cast.
