Broken nordica boot buckle

I had a really heavy crash on a steep icy cliff drop and I bent my toe buckle (front one) on my 08 Nordica superchargers. The metal is slightly torn and it is weakened.
It's still functional, but I don't know for how much longer. Maybe 15 days, maybe 15 seasons.
It still cranks up, just not nearly as tight as before.
So I went to get it fixed and they wanted to charge me $60 New Zealand dollars (about $40-$45 USD). I thought this seemed like a lot for what seemed like a $10 part and about 10 minutes labour.
What do you think I should do? I'm a poor ass student so every cent helps.
Here's a picture, first 3 pictures are of broken buckle, bottom two are of the other boot (unbroken) for comparisons sake.

Spark notes: Is $60 to get a broken boot buckle fixed too much when it's still functional(ish)?

you should just leave it if you don't have the cash to fix it, it's really a useless buckle anyhow, if you're boot fits correct you shouldn't need it. Hence the reason you're now seeing two buckle and three buckle boots on the market.

I don't think you knwo what you are talking about. The toe buckle is definitely needed, regardless of the fit of the boots. That is an overlapping boot, if the toe buckle is not buckled, hello wet feet and sloppy fit in the toe. The reason there are 2 and 3 buckle boots are because the boots are designed specifically for 2 or 3 buckles, and they are placed differently on the shell. Get learned.

He says that he can get the buckle latched which is plenty to keep the water out. especially if the boot fits correctly. The toe buckle should not effect the fit of the boot. the only thing you are doing by over tightening this buckle is lessening the space above your toes, it doesn't change the width of the boot. if you are over cranking your toe buckles trying to make the boot skinnier it doesn't fit right. as long as that buckle keeps pressure he wont have wet feet.

Yea, but you said he doesn't even need it, as in if it broke off it would be fine, which it wouldn't. I knwo it doesn't make the boot skinnier, but it tightens it vertically. If he just buckles the boot as he does now just enough to keep it tight but not so tight that it will break off, he will be good.

This is why i told him just to leave it if he doesn't have the cash to fix it, not rip it off. Don't mess with it.

The same thing happened to mine. i just tore the buckle off. They now only have two buckles on one of them.

Exact same thing on my boots the toe buckle is held on by only one side of the hinge thing wtv you wanna call it

I just kept using the buckle, it still can hold it just twists since its only held at one side...

not a big deal for me anyways that buckle always comes undone quickly and i end up skiing the whole day without it

These buckles are a bitch to take off (all of the Beast series boots are like this). The rivets are super thick and hardened. The cost can be steep because of the labor involved but also if you want the exact type of buckle. Nordica only sells sets to shops, so that shop probably had to drop some cash on a set of buckles to replace just one.

What you should do is ask for another type of buckle put on (something standard metal/micro), most shops have these for standard repairs. The boot is drilled for a single hole, so this means drilling a new hole in the boot to make a standard buckle work (no big deal). It won't look the same, but at the same time shouldn't cost more than $20-$25 USD.

well first off the buckles were held in by rivets and i didnt want to have to go buy some rivets to put the new buckle on. they work decently. they just wernt as tight around the sole of my foot as before.
