Broken k2 domain

today at the mountain the tip on my k2 domain blew apart. One of the pins came out and my edge completely came off of the ski so now it's just dangling off of the ski. just wondering if theres any way to fix this or can i keep riding them how they are?. if not, does anyone have and suggestions on some new skis?

Would think that you could probably put the pin back in with some epoxy and what not but as for the edge i don't know man, i've never completely blown an edge but i would assume that if like you say your edge has completely come off that she may be done for.

Was it the whole edge down the side of your ski or just the edge of your tip?

The pin is somewhere on the mountain unfortunatley. just the edge at the tip

hahaha unreal, Literally the exact same thing happened to my pair of domains!! not quite as big, fixed it by clamping the edge in place, then using cocking to hold the edge together, amazingly it worked and after sanding to uniform the base, i havnt noticed any major change in the way they ride. personally still am amazed it worked, random inspiration from a mr fix it father. .. am currently debating new allmountain twins to buy. unfortunate flaw.

Wow,suck tho. I was thinking maybe trying to use a shit load of super glue and glue it back but idk if that would work. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try tho.

I'm pretty sure the pins aren't structural, they are just so you can take them out and attach skins for hiking?

K2 uses multiple kinds of rivets. The fatter skis (I know the shreditor 102 has them) have a rivet that is basically a slot for the part on the skin. The domains do not use this rivet. I do be believe however that both types of rivets are structural.

So do you think the skis are pretty much done?

Short answer: Yes.

I guess you could try to work some epoxy magic on it, and make it into a summer set up ski or something like that. If they were my skis, I would not use them for everyday skiing.

Damn, well that sucks. Thanks for the responses everyone. I've been looking at the line chronics. What do you guys think of them?

If that was my ski....id hack off the edge thats hanging out. Id put a screw, some washers and a nut in the hole where the rivot was to keep it all held together. Then take a power sander and smooth out the rough edges on the topsheet and sidewall. Then take some 2 part epoxy and cover all the sidewall and tip where you cut the edge out to keep it all together and waterproof.
