So, I contacted HP via email about this problem. No help there. I try calling their support line this morning and I think I am finally about ready to get some help when the guy says "Im sorry, your ipod is not under warranty. If you still want support you will be charged $45 for the call. So now I am torn between new skis or a new iPod. The skis are looking much better now.

It shows the ipod with an unhappy face on it. Apparently the hard drive is fried. They didnt offer a 3 yr warranty where i bought it.

HP licensed the ipod for a while. Its an apple ipod, but its sold and supported through HP.

Get the skis.

They'll last longer than a fucking iPod will anyways.

I hear stories about those things breaking alllllllllll the time.

like 15 of my friends have ipods, and 12 of them have broken, whether its the screen or the hard drive, or the battery, or if it just doesant turn on. so they seem to have lotsss of problems. mind you the other 3 people of the 15 treat them very carefully and there still intact, but there only like 3 months old.

on the other hand, i am on my 6th ipod and have never had any problems at all. Even with my 1st gen mini, it performed just as my 2nd gen mini did.

when your devices own a 70% market share, you're gonna hear about more of them breaking. It's proportional to how many Sony, Dell, or Creative mp3 players break, but the number itself is higher. Whoop dee fucking doo.

exactly. I run two electronics stores, and i have never had more problems than with Zen Micros. Either the HDD takes a shit, of the headphone jack dies after a couple weeks. I am talking DOZENS of these things have had to go back.

im on my 8th ipod right now, but im kinda rough on them. i was thinking about switching to zens but the support from apple is damn good.

my ipod is fucking up right now

and i dont have enough money to pay for shipping at the moment... it is no bueno
