Broken Dalbello boots...

I came inside after a few runs today and noticed a large crack in my Dalbello Kingston boots. See the attached photo: View attachment 605078

The boot is cracked clear through until it gets about .75 inches from the bottom of the boot. I obviously didn't spread the crack open more in the picture but it is a seriously long break. My only theory on how this could have happened was that it was incredibly cold today, and I came inside to warm my feet up and the plastic heated back up too fast and cracked along a weak point.

Has this ever happened to you?

Do you have any theories as to why that would have happened?

In terms of getting a new boot, is this something Dalbello would cover, or am I going to have to sack up and get a new pair of boots?

Thanks for the help everyone.

Take them to the shop you got them from to have them rtvd or contact dalbello's warranty department and get it taken care of yourself.

A buddy of mine did the same thing with his boots, he took them back and got a new pair because its obviously a manufactureing defect

Not necessarily, but likely. How old are these boots? Most warranties on boots are 2 years from purchase date, so if it's longer than that then you might not get a lot of help.

Plastic boots do age and can crack if they are stored improperly in prolonged heat and/or cold. This is also why you want to be wary of buying older used boots (old Raichles for example).

Unfortunately this will be the 4th season on these boots, so I think the manufacturing warranty is finished. haven't heard from Dalbello yet....

I kept these boots in the basement of my house during the summers, which is about 60 degrees all the time.

Appreciate the help

Don't do this.

If you were going to try and keep using them, I would recommend drilling a hole at the end of the crack, to try an stop the crack from spreading. I've seen that done on race boots with some success.
