Broken collarbone awesome....

Well my season is over, 6-8 weeks of healing and my parents won't let me touch snow until I am completely healed. Basically somehow got off balance on a 5 and landed on one foot for a split second then straight onto my side. FML.

sorry to hear that.. in my opinion your parents are right though. getting back too early is what caused my knee to not heal completely ever again after i partially tore my mcl about 6 years ago.

I've been sitting on the couch for 1 week miserable as fuck watching tv and movies. Have the same scenario as you, although I'm going to get back on skis early and stay on groomers late Feb.

Speedy recovery man.

Man I know how that goes. It sucks. Is this the first thing youve broken? Def. boosts your appreciation for the sport when you are healed!

No this isn't, I broke my leg in march last year. This was definitely more painful. Worst part is I was supposed to take a trip to Utah at the end of February. No more pow pow for me.

Vibes man. I broke my collarbone in like 2 places, but at the start of August luckily. Mine took less than 6 weeks, but that was with the surgery.

i feel you man i broke mine 6 weeks ago on the day before winter break. I am dying to get back out there this weekend

Definitely let it heal the right way, surgery seemed to do the trick for me. But hey once you heal up it'll be stronger than ever!

Not exactly. Theres a jump called "angels leap" and it is about 50 feet with a steep, peaked, down hill landing. Oh btw its a table top. they changed the lips around to make the track harder and i hit it the same as i used too but the lip was flatter and i landed right at the top with my back wheel. i got bucked and rolled all the way down the landing. i was wearing the leatt brace (thank god). it saved my life but broke my collar bone. it seperated about an inch or so when it broke. i gained like 15 pounds of fat during those 5 months haha. it blew.

/claim.

just do what the doc says. i broke mine december 30th and it healed really fast im back on snow next thursday

broke mine 5 weeks ago and then skied 3 weeks after was good and then just broke it again 2 days ago

and i broke my other collarbone 6 times

.....let it heal

weird, that exact same thing happened to me, only difference is i only broke it in one place. happened aug 8th, had surgery, took about 6 weeks to heal.

I broke my collar bone and my scapula exactly two weeks ago. I really hope the doc gives my mom the ok for me to ski in 5 weeks over my spring break. I'm going to be super bummed if I can't ski the rest of the season. +vibes man, I totaly feel your pain

Yeah I did mine four 1/2 weeks ago and ive been skiing on it for the last 2 weeks. Just started hitting rails now and straight airing kickers.

This is mine ^! Get well soon!

someone i knew broke their collarbone and went skiing went it wasnt fully healed and broke it again just by landing a trick and not even falling now he is out twice as long.

yo that sucks man. vibes to you and anyone else who fucked themselves up.
however, in some way, i feel like this threads are almost counterproductive. one person makes a thread about breaking their collarbone on a 7. three more people say yeah i did the same thing. so, today im going out to try and land my second 7 ever. and now im like fuck i dont want to break anything. so idk guys, maybe this is just me but i feel like there are too many thread that are just, "another broken bone"

I broke mine second day of the year. 6 weeks now and 2 more to go untill I can ski again.

The first few weeks are the worst, but after that its pretty painless

It's just a pain in the ass that you can't go up and ski. I broke mine about 8 weeks ago been skiing for about 3 weeks. I would have been skiing sooner but the bone moved while it was healing. The first few weeks are the hardest.

yea I broke mine on devember 10th in 3 places. had surgery on the 12th missed around 6 weeks and started cruising and finally started skiing hard and park and shit again 2 weeks ago. Once it doesnt hurt to move around just cruise with a camera its nice just being out there.

Here's the thing...

you can ski as soon as 2 to 4 weeks, but YOU NEED TO STAY OUT OF THE PARK. NO STRAIGHT AIRS NO SPINNING NO RAILS NO BUMPS. You have to understand that any light fall at all is most likely going to rebreak it, setting your recovery time WAY back. So it's not even worth it for most. Plus you'll be worrying all day about falling on it, which will most likely mind-fuck with you.

If you're like me, where just cruising greens switch and carving gs turns on cordoroy is worth it, then by all means put on a "figure 8" brace and hit the blues. Although, staying out of park watching your friends rip it, sux.

Snapped mine off the first jump in Pick at Park City on Tuesday. I hope to be skiing in two weeks, but good god does this fucking suck or what.

Leatts break collarbones like they ain't shit. Good to hear that in this case it helped you, but a few of my friends who I ride DH with have had their collarbones broken by the brace on minor falls. Which is why I'm always sceptical about wearing one.

haha you guys are lucky... i just broke mine along with my shoulder and fractured my neck. the only fun for me in the next few weeks is blawjowbs and dunkin d coolatas

thats a bummer, sounds like you at least dont have to get any screws/surgery. my bud broke his at the end of last year, capped off his season too
